Wierd Crashes

Hi.

Sorry if this sort of problem has already been posted but I'm at work so I don't have time to search each thread.
My problem is that since I've installed Skyrim I get the occasional "crash to desktop" which the audio solution did not fix but I also get my PC freezing up completely. Sometime after a couple of minutes it will recover from the freeze but most of the time it forces my PC to restart. I've had 1 BSOD since the game installed but the most confusing problem is it seems as though Skyrim is causing problems with my other games. Sicne the install Call Of Duty 4 has started to freeze and restart my PC. My PC spec is:

ASUS Rampage III Extreme
i7 950 (set to standard clcoks for sake of freezes)
6GB Vengeance 1600MHz
AMD 6970 (standard clocks for sake of frezzes)
X-Fi Titanium Fataloty Pro

As far as I know the only shared software between Skyrim and CoD 4 other than steam is DirectX. All of my drivers are up to date and I've never had a problem like this before. Yesterday it crashed on me but before it restarted my PC I managed to see an "internal memory error" on "Steam.exe"
