The disc is unreadable - Status 03-80-00

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:52 pm

Bethesda - I love your games. I really do. But as of right now I'm experiencing persistent issues with my copy of Skyrim for the Xbox 360. I'm unclear if whether its the system or the copy itself but based on other forum posts it may be attributed to the console. I need some serious help with this annoying problem. Usually the message (The disc is unreadable) occurs when I'm launching the game and the drive is reading the disc. Often I have an issue with making it to the main menu screen to start up my game. Out of the blue, the message would appear right before I reach it. This is not a problems that happens very seldomly, but occurs enough to the point where it's my experience with the game. Can anyone offer any suggestions or help on how to deal with this problem.

Also, I've done every solution people suggested from exchanging copies, clearing system cache, and deleting the autosaves with no change whatsoever.

Have you tried saving the game to your harddrive? I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a shot.

Try installing the game to your HDD as from i have read in your post you have not tried that (unless you forgot to mention that) as i see you have tried all the other thing's.

I think it's safe to say your Disc Drive itself could be damaged via normal wear and tear, which is not surprising since the xbox itself doesnt exactly have a good build quality.

Just send it in to M$ as a RRoD they will repair it anyway. I have twice.

- the status code mean's - "unrecognized Disc", here's a link. To be honest it's more likely your disc drive has burnt out as i previously mentioned.

I know exactly what your problem is or believe to an I'll explain why. Ok when epic launched gears 3 it was on a new formatted disk which made this disk space bigger. Now I'm guessing that all the games that come out now will be with the new format which means some xboxs can't read the new format Microsoft is using on the games.

So more then likely your disk drive can not read the disk. You need to call micrsoft an have them tell you what you need to do to get a new updated disk drive for the new format they are using on there games as insure this is why your xbox can't read the disk.

Yeah. I seriously believe it's more so a problem with the disc drive as oppose to anything else. Also I cannot install the game on my hard drive and play it continually that way because, once again, I have an old, core white Xbox 360 with 20GB. I don't have enough space to do it. I'll see if I can call Microsoft and have them set me up with an RRoD repair. BTW, what does "RRoD" mean?

RRoD - "Red Ring of Death" When the Xbox needs repair or replaced.

Even though you dont actually have a RRoD just use that option as the reason for repair, they will still fix it under the 3 year warranty since more often than not your console is well on it's way to RRoD and M$ will want to salvage as many good piece's of hardware as possible. My last repair i sent only a couple of month's ago, i had an open tray error (basically disc drive was [censored]) yet after requesting a repair list it seem's the only original part of my xbox i got back was the case (it still has it's 'scar' from when it got knocked over a year or so ago) and now as well as the 1 month xbox live code you get for free as an apology, my xbox included the 3 1 month trial's you get with a brand new xbox. Winning! just a shame Halo 3 population is a little too low to even give me a challenge anymore, how i loved to make 1 month's for Halo 3 (i have 24 XBL accounts just for Halo 3 MP >.> ) oh well, save them for Halo 4 ^.^
