3rd person animations in 1st person - was my favorite mod for Oblivion. It was glitchy yes, but it literally pulled the camera back into your face, so that you see your animations as you see them in 3rd person, but in 1st person!

I want to see my shadow in 1st person! At the moment it's almost better to play in 3rd person as you don't feel like a ghost.

I agree, as cool as it would be to see your body in 1st person, I'd be happy with being able to see my shadow. Feels weird when Lydia casts a shadow but I don't....

it is possible but it requires more then adjusting the camera. It probably requires to change every single outfit ingame and also it requires all the outfits that are modded to have a version that is compatible with this mod. The meshes basically have a separate chest part which is called by a special name. The engine recognizes this name and knows it has to erase or mask this part of the mesh in 1st person. It does this because some meshes have high collars or chest pieces that stick out these are being rendered in the 1st prsn view and basically block the view or create ugly glitches. Which means that basically all the meshes first have to be renamed, then have to be modified if necessary so that they won't glitch with the 1st person camera. Also I'm not quite sure if it will look good, there has to be a limit on how far the camera can rotate, you basically can't face your head 90 degrees down in real life as well without bending your back. Also you don't want the camera to rotate through the body and show the inside of the mesh so there have to be certain limits. [Though this is based on my knowledge of this for oblivion, fo3 and fnv and assuming that it works the same for skyrim]

Appreciate the reply. I see what you're saying, in Skyrim and other first-person games, your head just kind of "pans" from a central location. This wouldn't work with a first-person body, because you'd be able to see into your chest. In real life, your head actually bends forward when looking 90 degrees down.

Not sure what would be the best fix... trying to simulate real life may make the controls feel awkward, and limiting how far you can look down is... limiting.

there was one done for oblivion.... so it can be done for skyrim as well, mostly it takes skill with scripting to get it working so that it is passable at least.

not sure if we will be able to get to this or if someone else will finish another version... will see i guess.

NOTE: This isn't a mod yet. This is not a WIP screenshot, lol.

Any other thoughts from more experienced modders? They'd be most useful if I ever attempted something like this.

A well stated post. I like that. I love games that allow you to see your own body as well. (spelled waist down though, not waste down, no big deal, just pointing it out, in case you wanted to correct it. Sorry, I just have an eye for detail, working in quality control, haha.)

The Arma series has always had this its an fps so the cursor is tagged to your weapon aim but you can hold the shift and this allows you to move your head independently of your body. If a mod for Skyrim can achieve this i would definitely download it.

What if you tried swapping out (or in this case, adding) the character model with a torso-less one when in first person mode, to avoid clipping issues? So when you look down you see legs/feet.
