i've heard about this but what is this? something to do with having too many saves? i've been scared to start a new character. please reply

I've read that having more than 2 saves will cause issues.

What happens when we reach the '999' save file?...I'm currently at 450+

I haven't heard anything about this myself. I'm on save 500 or so without problems I generally delete older saves though as they can take a lot of disk space. Perhaps on a machine with limited drive space like the first Xbox 360's had might cause problems. I save like crazy myself before fights and after, if it even looks like trouble ahead I save.

The game itself has an auto save when you open the menu, set at 15 minutes in the options which can be changed to as low as every 5 minutes so I don't think the save game number has much to do with saves as much as the room the files take up on disk.

I have multiple saves and I haven't ran into any issues. As for the save count, it resets back to 1 after 999.
