We all heard the raspy Dunmer voice in the official dungeon gameplay video, but I haven't heard them in the actual game. When I've talked to Dunmers, their voices have been quite normal and not raspy at all.

Have I just had bad luck and missed the raspy Dunmer voices or have Bethesda ONCE AGAIN (LIKE WITH OBLIVION ) taken out the raspy Dunmer voices in the final version of the game?

Damn. It makes me so angry because I really hoped for Dunmer to actually have that awesome voice again, and I believed that to be true when I heard the gameplay video. This is [censored] [censored] [censored].
The worst part is that this [censored] thing happened the exact same way for Oblivion and Bethesda ought to have make sure such a [censored] mistake wouldn't be done again.

I don't know why they changed it. The Dunmer that steals the claw in Bleak Fall Barrows clearly had a raspy voice in the demo footage, yet when I encountered him in-game the voice was clear.

Maybe there was some kind of contract issue with the original voice actor?

I am a huge fan of that way dunmer spoke and what they said in Morrowind.

so, what u guys r saying is t hat:

1) Bethesda knows ppl like it and want it im the game somehow;
2) Bethesda advertises demos in Oblivion and Skyrim with this voice, leading to believe it will actually be there;
3) Bethesda intentionally removes the voice without explaining.

that is lack of consideration from any business towards the audience. A real shame.

It is... rather annoying. Compounded with Skyrim by the fact that it uses proprietary file formats, so even if someone wanted to replace the voices, they'd have a harder time doing so. I'd say it's more supposed to be a British accent than Australian.

It's more disappointing there's no continuity in terms of accent/sound with the Nord voices from previous games (ditto Redguards). And Argonians sound pretty poor too. Pity that they appear to have taken the wrong lessons from Oblivion (both the E3 demo and the final game).
