I asked my follower to marry me so they ran off to Riften and while they were gone i got another follower and so the next day at the wedding after i said yes my spouse walked away and is now gone. I went back to his original spot, ran all over the city, and still could not find him. Now, I am unable to marry anyone because im still married even though its broken. Any workarounds/advice?

HOW TO REPEAT:

1) Ask to marry follower

2) before wedding, get another follower

3) Keep follower through the wedding

I had the same issue, go sleep in a bed for 24-48 hours then return to the temple, your spouse should be right inside the door waiting.

Yes, I play a female and married a female. All you have to do is get the Amulet of Mara, interact with the person you want to marry, if they have a comment about the amulet or option to ask them to marry you, then your set otherwise have to move on to the next person.
