A fix for CTDs

So like many others I've had CTD issues nonstop. I tried something, and it stopped them from happening (this is the good news). What I did is go to Data Files, and then click "Load Loose Files".
Since doing this, I have no CTDs; however, (here comes the bad news...) the game is basically unplayable due to the majority of the game not loading. What I mean by that is I will enter a cave, and only some of the furniture, some food, and the enemy (sometimes) will load. I can't see where I am going because there is no floor. Or the floor will load, but only partially. Those kinds of issues.

I post this more to identify an area that might be good to investigate the cause of the crashes more than to actually fix the problem. As I said, I have had no CTDs since doing that, but the game is almost as bad because I can't see anything or figure out where to go. This makes me think that the game is having some sort of compatibility issue with my graphics card and the load loose files is preventing the problem from crashing the game. I've heard people say they ported this from consoles to PC, so perhaps the port was done in a manner that it was made compatible with the software for graphics cards (i have an AMD 5870 1GB with 11.10 software version).
