Cannot screenshot with PrtScn or F12

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 10:47 pm

Both keys do nothing, No in-game confirmations and no screenshots saved to my HD. Neither key has been remapped by any other programs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you've disabled Steam community overlay then F12 won't work.

Print Screen should still function. I don't believe it tells you when screenshots are taken. All I experienced was a 1 sec stutter.

Screenshots via Print Screen are located in:
\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\

There are no screenshots in that directory. No image files at all in any steam directory for that matter. Tried searching .png, .jpg, .bmp.

And yes, I disabled the steam overly because the popup from it kept locking up the game, so at least that one makes sense.

Is there a command to take a screenshot from console so I can test if it's an internal or external error?

Thanks

No console command that I'm aware of. Trying using the third party application like FRAPS.

You could check the Users/(username)/My Documents/My Games/Skyrim skyrim.ini file to make sure the bAllowscreenshot function is set to 1 instead of 0.

Other than that, probably a conflict somewhere. I had some weirdness with FRAPS hotkeys being disabled in the game at first, too, EVEN THOUGH the hotkeys I had FRAPS set to were not the Print Screen of F keys (I was using Num-pad keys). I had to reset Fraps hotkeys first, then switch them back again. Odd.
