Playstation Firmware Update 4.0

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 8:06 pm

I feel my game is lagging more than it ever did after receiving the lastest Firmware update from Sony. I only say this because my game was working fine before the patch with a few framerate issues/ lag here and there. After Patch 1.02 the framerate/lag significantly dropped from what it was but it was still there and could use another patch to completely get rid of it. But the firmware seems have negated the recent patch and now my game is even more laggy than it was before the patch. I hope this issue gets looked into because it does seem the Firmware update is causing me to lag.

It could be sheer coincidence too. Anyone else can confirm?

I had that thought in my head but my game was running good compared to others before patch and than great after patch. Than this Firmware update comes and it seems that I am getting alot more lag.
Thinking of doing a rinse and repeat character wise on Skyrim. See if a new char with no save files will help, but its starting over alot that gets me not to complete Bethesda games so I am not completely sure on the Idea.

No way I'm going to update to 4.0, it's just for that crappy little handheld thing anyway and nothing else.

I'm about to try it out right now I'll let you know what my results are in a few so far I've had a decent experience with the patch just minor legginess and one freeze through about 5 hrs of gameplay with the new patch but with the old firmware.

I just tested it with the 4.0 Firmware update. My game is completely unplayable now. It runs at a constant 5 frames per second.

Ok I only played for a few moments but long enough to get into a dragon fight. It seems fine to me but I'd have to try again tomorrow.

Personally I'm fine with a little lab but since the new patch and 4.0 update my game has frozen a total of 9 times in the last 24 hrs. Plus all the broken quests and bugs are pushing my nerves to the limit. All i need to do is get a couple more trophies then I'm back to my lag/bug free Oblivion until Starwars comes out. buuuut i still would like to play this game again in the future so fixing the stuff would be nice.

It's exactly the same as before. Getting kinda reaching now on what's causing the lag aside from the game itself being poorly coded. It's not the firmware, it's not your message notifications it's not your unfragmented harddrive, it's not your dog licking his ass in front of your ps or your stove being on. It's the game.

I got 4.0 before I began playing Skyrim earlier today, and I saw no difference after updating.

It's mandatory, so the next time you want to sign on to PSN you'll have to download it.

It's been awhile since I've updated my PS3, think it's still around 3.2? or early 3.
I never log onto PSN and never have it connected to the internet (unless game patches).

Well I am not trying to outreach just when I was playing earlier today after the Firmware Update my game seems to lag more than I remember. I know it wasnt perfect before but it did seem to lag more than usual. Bethesda does need to come out with a patch for framerate/lag issue. But your problay right, I problay was looking at it more closely after update and noticed more than I usually do.

While trying to play Skyrim last night my PS3 suddenly displayed an error message sayibg i had been signed out of the network. I have tried every trick in the book to get it back on line.

At first it would'nt even find the router. I then put the details in manually only to be told that the WPA key could be wrong. After disabling security completely i was then told it timed out waiting for an IP Address. After reseving an IP Address for it i was then told it was a DNS error.
After entering every single detail manually and verifying they were correct i was still told there was a DNS error. It continued to switch back and forth between saying it was a DNS error and giving error codes starting with 80.....
I also tried putting the PS3 into the DMZ to no effect.

This occured not long after updating Skyrim. Anyone else had this happen?

I then saw someone mention the 4.0 update for the PS3 earlier on here but when i checked the Playstation site it made no mention of it and still displays ver 3.71, i think, as the current version. Then i saw this thread where some people have said they have dl'd the update. Could this be related to me not being able to connect? I don't see how but i am willing to entertain just about any theory at the moment. :brokencomputer: :banghead:

I am at a loss as to why it would suddenly stop connecting and fail to reconnect. Anyone able to help?

I could not play Modern Warfare 3 without getting this update so I had no choice but to download it. Something tells me it has very little to do with the game performance in Skyrim though, Call it a hunch.

I just ran this new update and game's playing the same way it did before. There's no need to worry over this new firmware update. If your Skyrim copy is not working properly then the blame is still on Bethesda. Stop acting like every little thing is directly affecting your Skyrim copy you are just making things more confusing.

Next time they gonna blame it on the Falmer! Just like the Nords.

C'mon people, the only reason why everyone's experiencing bugs and glitches is because of Bethesda's incompetence.

I downloaded the system update before playing earlier, it didn't affect my game at all, positively or negatively.

The latest system update is mostly for preparation for PS Vita support, and a few things for those who are PS+ subscribers, and settings for filtering friend requests and messages.

A new system software update (v4.00) will be released this week. In preparation for the launch of PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) in Japan, this update will prepare PlayStation 3 (PS3) to serve as a content management device. It will allow users to copy their digital content such as games, music, photos, and videos between PS Vita and PS3, back up PS Vita game games including save data to your PS3 hard drive, and update the system software for your PS Vita system using the network features of your PS3.

Other changes to take effect with this update include:

* PlayStation Plus members can now choose to enable or disable each automatic update feature
o Game patches
o System software
o Recommended games and videos
o Sync trophy information
* New PlayStation Network settings for filtering friend requests and messages

You can find more details after the firmware goes live here. We look forward to your feedback.

Well, 4.0 isn't going to fix anything in Skyrim, and it is a mandatory update once you try to sign in with your PSN account. If you want to avoid it don't sign in.

I know, I was trying to debunk any conspiracy theories that the 4.0 patch was what was causing problems
