Problems with 1.2

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 6:18 am

So I just read the patch notes for Skyrim 1.2 and there doesn't seem to be any mention of fixes to bugged quests. Do the patch notes not contain all the information for the new patch? Or is Bethesda ignoring all of the complaints regarding broken quests that litter this and many other Skyrim forums?

I don't understand the logic at all. Texture bugs are more important than broken quests and broken game play mechanics?

The texture bugs appear to be a lot more common than the quest bugs, as fewer people appear to have quests broken.
Not to mention it is probably easier to fix the texture stuff and check it than to fix the quests and check they don't interfere with any number of other interlinked story stuff.

Dude fixing the broken quest can not happen over night. Do you know how long it takes to fix them with out breaking any other quest or make sure that everything works the way it should. God I mean ya alot of ppl have broken quest but it's not like they can snap there fingers or click there heels an everything be perfect.

"Fixed issue where textures would not properly upgrade when installed to drive (Xbox 360)" do you think this will included people who have the same problem when playing off the disk?

Graphical issues are more annoying to sell a game than broken quests...
If they don't fix any quest with this update, it's clearly unfair for there are some really annoying bugs that can be solved easily (daggers damage not scaling, thieves guild broken etc.)

From my understanding is that yes it will include people playing off the disk as the problem starts the same off the disk or installed for the textures to mess up. Which I'm glad they are fixing this because my xbox sound's like a fighter jet lol.

Honestly I have no idea how long it takes but how much harder can it be than fixing graphical issues? I'm not a dev so I wouldn't know but since Beth has not really said ANYTHING regarding the problems its what I'm forced to assume.

I have a pretty plain right to be pissed over this, the very least Beth could do is keep us informed, I know nothing about fixing bugs but I know it takes almost no time at all to have someone just tell us whats going on outside of the pretty disappointing list of bugs they are fixing.

Whilst texture bugs can be frustrating, I don't see them as more important than quest bugs. Many of the problems with quests that people have reported stop them from going through major questlines including the main story quest and the Dark Brotherhood (to name but a couple). These issues actually stop people from being able to experience the content. Texture bugs just make the content look worse.

It takes alot longer is the answer. Graphically fixes wont effect the quests so its alot easier to test the fix. Fixing a small issue with a quest will require testing to make sure a) it works, b)it doesnt break anything else in that quest and c)it doesnt break other quests.

They could have waited and put the framrate/lag fix in with a big quest patch that im sure will be out sooner rather than later, but they didnt and instead released what they have fixed now.

It will take time tho for the big quest patch because its alot more complex

The least that Bethesda could do is acknowledge that there are many buggy quests in the game and say that they are working on fixing them. I know that it will take a while but an indication that the problems will be fixed at some point would be appreciated.

Its quite obvious that they are doing that. Otherwise I would not even be expecting 1.3 but they can at least tell us in more detail what they are working on. Just because I post an issue here does not guarantee that its being listed as something thats being worked on.

I've been playing for nearly 40 hours and no quest problems at all ...fingers crossed. Only problem is everything close up looks blurry which I presume is the texture problem that's being adressed

Definitely. I, for one, would like them to indicate whether there is going to be a fix in the pipeline for the follower-leveling bug currently affecting all platforms.

Thing is, even if they know about a bug you post, it doesnt mean it can be fixed. Or if they did fix it, that may create bigger problems so isnt worth it.

Gstaff says it better than me:

In cases where we know that a fix is coming (the issue folks reported with lag on PS3, the textures on Xbox 360, etc), we can generally let folks know that we're working on an update that helps with the issue. Oftentimes though, the changes present in an update do not get finalized until the very end. For this reason, we generally wait to share what's being fixed until the update is released.

I promise you it won't last. My first play though (about 60 or so hours) was near perfect except the civil war questline was glitched which was annoying as all heck but I had already given up on my failure of a dragonborn and set sail on my second playthough. It was okay but graphical gliches are becoming more and more common as well as being able to work straight out of white run because the wall keeping me in didn't appear at all and allowed be straight out to wonder the backdrop.

Now three or four side quests gliched including the companions one so I can't get anymore and every house I buy has obsolete weapon racks. Oh and I'm unable to decorate my windhelm home.

They're working on one thing at a time, starting with the things that are affecting the most people and on the larger scale. Yes, there are housing bugs but in the grand scheme of things, how big of a deal is that? I'd love for small glitches to be fixed whenever they pop up but if more people are suffering from texture issues or in PS3 users' cases, not even being able to play properly after a certain time, I would gladly wait for them to update something as large as that. Bethesda can fix minor issues (such as housing glitches) without even requiring a patch, so rest assured, your problems will likely be fixed as we go along. It hasn't even been 3 weeks since the release of Skyrim, so everyone should be a bit more patient.
