Item rewards scale with level?

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:57 pm

EDIT: Sorry, meant the Quest rewards, not itens :P

I was discussing the game in another forum when a users showed us a shield, reward from a quest, that reflects damage (i think).
It got me thinking. If a complete a quest, the reward from it will be tailored around my lvl?
I mean, if i do the shield quest at 50, the shiled will have higher defense than if I complete it at level 10?

I'd love to know this aswell.

If i get sweet enchanted items (Like the guild quest line armours and weapons) at level 10, will this item still be good to go at level 30? Will the enchantments and stats change at all?!

Your items don't level with you, per se. Perks can increase certain values of items, but the base item will remain the same. I don't know if anything changes if you start/complete a quest at level 10 or wait and start/complete a quest at level 30 though.

Most items give a percent increase in stats, so I doubt they do.

i'd like to know this too. It's one thing that really, really annoyed me in Oblivion. Quest reward should be the same regardless of level, otherwise it punishes the player for doing the quest before a certain level.

Yeah, I thought something like that.
If the reward is tailored around a high level, doing it at lvl 10 would turn the toon in an overpowered demigod. But if it's tailored to be level specific, getting something unique at a low level would turn it into a useless paperweight in high levels

Most items give a percent increase in stats, so I doubt they do.

I was mainly thinking in terms of defense for armors and weapon damage for weapons

Not sure if this is completed yet, but here's the list http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Leveled_Items, meaning that depending on your level, the base power and enchants will be weaker/stronger. No one knows what the maximum level required to get the best version of those items yet, hopefully someone will find out soon.

THe only thing that scales are chest prizes and stuff like that, you won't really find quests wich scale along with you, but, when i leveled a character up to 37, i usually found lots of glass/ebony itens when going into dungeons.

Let me get a bir more clear here.

Say, the quest "Baddie dragon is baddie" rewards a sword and a shield
I get this quest at level 10. The sword does 5 damage and the shield gives 5 defense.
I get this quest at level 50, the same sword does 30 damage and the shield gives 30 defense?

Edit
ad090 helped a lot, thanks man :P

So in other words, we are going to need a Quest Award Leveler mod like we had in Oblivion for Skyrim too.

I think a mod (or ven a patch) that allow us to accept or not a quest would be awesome. It's kind of wierd if I'm doing say, a valiant and noble knight, and a quest to kill the priest is automaticaly added on my questlog =p
