Opening Screen Crash

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 9:09 pm

My game opens up to the opening intro screen with the dragon logo but instead of the continue game, load game, etc. appearing on the right it just stays a black screen with a dragon logo. Any solutions to this yet?

I've been having the same problem since release. I just fixed it.

Make a shortcut directly to TESV.exe and run it in compatibility mode for Windows 95.

I have this same problem and tried your solution. It will goto the screen where you can choose "new" (or load etc.) but it will crash immediately after I try to do anything like press enter or press up or down.

This bug is very frustrating because I have no idea how to fix it and I cannot play the game I just purchased :\

After some search I found a fix in another thread. I thought I would reply here just in case anyone has the same issue.

Open your windows sound settings. Right click your default device and click properties. Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the window. Now where you'll see something like "24bit, 192000 Hz (studio quality)" press on it and from the drop menu select "24bit, 44100 Hz (studio quality)". Restart your game or any other applications that were using sound and you should be good to go.
