Hello Adam,

Thank you for contacting me regarding Skyrim lagging on your PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. I understand how frustrating these situations can be. Considering this is the only game you are experiencing issues with I recommend contacting the publisher of Skyrim for further assistance. I have included the contact information below:

Bethesda Softworks
Technical Support (410) 568-3685
Web Site www.gamesas.com

I am confident once the publisher of Skyrim is contacted you will be further assisted with the lagging issue you are currently experiencing. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future. Thank you for your time and patience.

Sounds cool. Don't see how this is relevant to anything because anybody could have told you it wasn't your specific PS3's problem.

Interesting. Well, give it a go. If they don't help, contact the S.C.E. guy again.

At least they sound concerned (good at their jobs) however the emails from Bethesda are terrible.

I applaud you for contacting Sony regarding this. I believe the issue isn't just about skyrim lagging OR trying to get tech support from them but rather why they would license buggy alpha/beta testing software, which could potentially (and reportedly has?) cripple/destroy ps3 systems, when they won't license to many independent developers who may be more capable of producing a less buggy video gaming experience than Bethesda. I'm not going to go so far as to say Sony needs to be punished for this; however, Sony needs to know that people may take a stand if this trend keeps going on.

After buying the original xbox version of morrowind and experiencing the save game bug that was never fixed. I bought fallout 3 and new vegas for the 360 when it came out in the bargain basemant, experiencing mainly just occasional freezes in Fallout 3, but I managed to beat the game with no FPS problems, and there were just too many issues to list with New Vegas, and I quit playing early on. So, it isn't just the PS3 which Bethesda is having problems with.

I also bought the Oblivion special edition for the 360 as a new released and haven't had any problems with it, but that could be because I don't have as many hours in that game as some others. New Vegas and Skyrim really have been the deal breakers for me.

Although I'm not an FPS fan, after buying Killzone 3 and suffering a RROD, I became a huge PS3 fan. Great game, great, free on-line play. I pretty much abandoned the 360 completely afterward. These issues, which aren't reportedly in the 360 version, are pretty disturbing, and I don't have the extra cash to buy a gaming pc. My PC lags trying to play Titan Quest, a game from 2006!

I bet Bethesda will not have easy business with Sony after this Skyrim fiasco.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for contacting us. We have seen this issue with save files greater than 6mb. Please clear your game cache as the game relies heavily on your console's memory.

a. In the XMB home menu, go to (Game) > [Game Data Utility].
Important: Make sure you select [Game Data Utility]. Do NOT select [Saved Data Utility], as this will delete all of your saved games files.
b. Highlight the game data utility file (i.e., name of a particular game you have been playing) you wish to delete.
c. Press the button and select [Delete].
d. Highlight "Yes" and press the button to confirm the deletion.
e. A message indicating the file is being deleted will appear.
f. A "Delete completed." message will appear once the file has been successfully deleted.
Best regards,

Chris Z.

Just curious, can this be done while in game? Meaning, push PS button to see XMB menu without leaving the game.

I'm sorry, but what you're experiencing is the "Placebo Effect."

Agreed. Firmware 4.0 adds PS Vita support, as well as data sharing limitations (i.e. you can now have your account on 2 PS3's, instead of 5. This may not have taken effect yet, however). It does nothing for data management.

i bought the oblivion game of the year for ps3, with shivering isles and kotn, but never got a quest or w/e about the knights of the nine, proudspire manor (or however that castle was called near bruma) was not avaidable (or the other addons knights of the nine had) for my ps3 version, which i thought was horrible since i payed for an expansion which wasnt even in the game! i got oblivion on pc also and never had problems like these on my pc.

Sony should just ban bethesda from making more games for the ps3, as a sign of protection from those pigs. either bethesda just stops making bad s h i t for us or they do it right the first time.
