The misc quest for "visit college of winterhold" will not go away/clear even though I've been there and
finished the college quests up to "revealing the unseen" where I stopped because I heard of bugs. I
thought it was because I never took the tour of the college when I first went there, but my son visited
the college and went on the tour and started some quests and his misc quest didn't clear either.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Not for this particular quest but I do have quests in my log that have been completed that don't go away. Ironically, mine are only Misc quests as well.

I actually just completed the College quests yesterday without any issues. The quests "Visit The College Of Winterhold" went away as soon as the tour started. Strange. I don't get why I'm not having quest issues that others are having. I have over 80 hours invested and are at level 24 and have yet to have any quest issues. Just a few freeze ups and some minor lag, but that's it.

Have you talked to everyone in the college?

Did you follow Mirabelle all over for the "tour"? At first I thought just going there was enough, but you actually have to follow her around.
