The Descent(Movie)

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 3:14 am

Ok I was watching the movie the descent and was pretty impressed with it. So much that I think there can be included. So basically someone makes a huge cave system designed like a maze filled with these creatures http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jvBFHkK2ZXc/TKnhwtEsavI/AAAAAAAAIzY/eRRp8esJMYM/s1600/Trog+-+Descent.jpg

I think so much potential. If you haven't seen the movie do yourself a favor and please do.

It was ok in my opinion but I'm not in to those kinds of movies. Now for a mod i think that would be a great idea! how about make it start off that you fall into the cave and have to find your way out? Falmer would probably be the closest thing you get to those things.

Or maybe a mine that connects to a huge cave, thats how part 2 is. Yes the falmer are close but use weapons and armor. Trogs are what we need. Maybe the trogs can be where falmer originated.

The Falmer we know now in skyrim were once a great Elven race that the Nords beat into the mountains and caves where the became reclusive and evolved into what we see now after centuries of hiding. They were once known as Snow Elves.

Good movie, wish it was scarier though. You should watch the sequel, it was pretty good as well and I love the ending..although I saw it coming :(
The falmer are already near exact replicas of the creatures from the descent. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they were based off of them

I'm glad I'm not the only who thought of this movie after encountering the falmer.

Neil Marshal has done some other great pulp movies such as Dog Soldiers and Doomsday. Not to mention directing the Game of Thrones tv series.

The second one was not so good. Much more of a generic horror movie, with a different director/writer and if I remember correctly the only recurring character was one who died in the first movie. Groan.

I liked Pandorum more. This was the film I thought about when first encounter with the Falmer. The Descent was a typical film. Btw, the Falmer look exactly like those creatures, and I'm sure they eat human flesh. :P

A descent-like (DLC-like ?) adventure can be fine, but I would imagine it efficient only if you have no weapons and almost no magic too. Or, make the creatures dreadful.

But the overall idea of a huge maze-like cave system in which you come several times, unlocking shortcuts as you delve for faster comebacks (or a magic portals systems ?) would be nice, although very diablo/UltimaUnderground-like ?

When I first saw the falmer, that movie was the first thing I came to think of, I'm sure it has had some influence on the devs when making the falmer for Skyrim

Yeah but I wish there were more falmer without weapons and even some that walk on all fours like the trogs from fallout 3 the pitt dlc.

Actually the first time I fought the Falmer the first thing I thought was how much they reminded me of the cave monsters from The Descent. They are even cannibals, as seen in Alftand...*shudder*

Now you would just need them to crawl across the walls and ceiling to match them perfectly.

Yes and no. You have evolved/mutated humans eating other humans on a space ship.

Seen both movies and they popped instantly to my mind when I saw the Falmer. I was a bit dissapointed though that there were no ruins left by the falmer. Maybe I'll mod a ruined Falmer city some day, altough that would require new models.

Since they were chased below ground by the Nords, all their ruins would be older than the nord barrows. Pretty ancient, which is probably why there aren't any. Would definitely be an interesting topic for a mod though.

An ancient Falmer City hidden in the mountains would be pretty sweet. Maybe even see some non-evolved Falmer.
