I've noticed other things protruding from my character before (arrows and things), which, though somewhat lingering, eventually disappeared. However these frosty glow cones don't seem to want to go away and I've grown a bit concerned that they may now be a permanent addition to my regalia. So I'm wondering if these too will eventually go away or if I should just pretend the 3rd-person camera button doesn't exist anymore.
Regardless, the picture above brings me to my second minor bug. What now seems like ages ago, while in the precincts of Whiterun, I found a bounty that led me to an abandoned mine in which there were several brigands. While in said mine I happened upon a large chest, which I hastily relieved of its contents. Among the things I found therein was a book, War of the First Council, which I read (as I always do) when encountering new books. After I sat for a few moments in quiet contemplation of the book I returned unceremoniously back to slaughtering the bandits.
Upon returning to Whiterun and fulfilling other tasks, I wished to lighten my load and fill my pockets, so to speak, and began selling anything that was not necessary for my future exploits. It was only at this time that the true nature of the book (and hence the root of the problem) revealed itself. It was brought to my attention that the book was a quest item, and as such, I could not remove it from my inventory. I was only slightly troubled by this: After all, it was not very heavy itself and I figured that the quest for its possession would come eventually. And indeed it did.
After joining the College of Winterhold I was brought to converse with an orc who was a steward of the library there. After some dialogue he tasked me with finding several books that he wished to collect. Low and behold, the first book he required was the pilfered War of the First Council. I was elated that I saved myself the menial task of having to actually leave the College to go find it. But something troubled me: the quest marker for the book was located on the mine where I had found it, and not the orc librarian. I spoke with him again, expecting to find some recognition that I had the book on my person, but there was none. Begrudgingly, I thought that perhaps I had to journey back to the mine, and once there it would register that I found the book and allow me to return it. Unfortunately, that was not the case. So I slogged through the dark caves (now empty of their former inhabitants) and made my way to the chamber and the chest in which I had discovered the book. I hoped that if I opened the chest it would register that I had the book, or that by some off chance I would be able to place the book back in the chest and then retrieve it once again. But I can't pick up the book from the chest and "acquire" it, simply because I can't put it down and get rid of it. A rather unfortunate conundrum.
And so this picture shows me rather awkwardly standing before the chest, wondering if I'll ever be able to complete the quest for the orc, and if the glowing spears on my back will disappear.
