[REL] Weapon Swap

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 1:21 am

What Is It?
Skyrim currently does not have a way to hotkey an item to be equipped into the left hand. Weapon Swap alleviates this frustration by allowing you to press your left-hand weapon hotkey (equips to right hand), press the (configurable) weapon swap key, then press your right-hand weapon hotkey to equip a weapon into your off-hand via hotkey.

Weapon Swap has a few INI settings you should know about. First is the key that Weapon Swap will be activated by. There is a list of key-codes below the other settings. Next, there are three settings related to messages that Weapon Swap will print. The first is print_start_message, and is the message that Weapon Swap will print when it's loaded. Next is print_error_messages, and controls whether or not error messages will be printed.

Requirements

Installation
After installing the files from Script Dragon, copy weaponswap.asi and weaponswap.ini to your Skyrim install directory.

Usage
With a weapon in either hand, press Home (or your preferred configured key, set in weaponswap.ini) to swap it to the other hand. Works with two weapons equipped as well.

Credits
Alexander Blade for making Script Dragon and much help in getting the functions for Weapon Swap working.

Loving this. Out of interest, how would I go about setting a mouse key to do the swap?

I don't think it's possible simply by setting a key-code in the INI. However, I think you could use http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm to bind your mousebutton to a keypress, then configure Weapon Swap to use that key. Alternatively, you could do the same thing (probably) with http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1805.

Maybe this is a dumb question, lol. But will this allow you to be holding your bow in the left hand and equip a sword or destruction spell in the right? That way I could have arrows on a hot key and bow in left hand and destruction spell in the right. Switching to arrows would simply make the destruction (or whatever else you want) to go away and shoot your bow? If this does not do that is there possibly a way to configure it, or another mod that does this? Hope this makes sense, lol.

Any way to do the following?:

Example, sword in quickslot 1, axe in 2

press 1, and it will go into main hand, press ALT+2 (or whatever key+2), it will go into off hand

That won't work, unfortunately. The game counts bows as two handed, so it'd just unequip whatever is in your other hand anyway.

Not possible with the stock Weapon Swap. I may add support for this sort of thing later. For now you can probably do the same thing by using Hotkey Simulator (link in one of my previous posts in this thread) and making a hotkey that's Alt+2 or whatever and simply issues the Weapon Swap keypress.
