Idea For The Dark Brotherhood

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 12:31 pm

So I was thinking...Wouldn't it be cool to make a mod that expands on the Dark Brotherhood questline in Skyrim. Like it continues after you rebuild the DawnStar sanctuary, and you actually have the ability to go out and recruit people to the brotherhood and send them out on contracts. And slowly as you make more money from contracts you can rebuild or make new sanctuarys in Skyrim. So what do you guys think, possible good idea for a mod down the road, or no?

Sounds like a great idea, but a colossal amount of work. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Sounds good, go for it. It's a neat idea in that it lets you expand the faction without having to deal with the questline that's already there (which is a problem because we don't have access to their voice actors). The new sanctuary is a convenient reset for a mod.

My only criticism is that the player needs more to do, not just the Dark Brotherhood overall. You make it sound kind of like they just sit there talking to NPCs while they wait to be allowed to buy more crap, so that they can go from having eight houses in the game to fifteen. Most players join up because they like the gameplay of going around assassinating people or because they're roleplaying an evil character. So you'll need to start with a clearer idea of what the actual gameplay you're adding is.

If there is a way to do stuff with radiant quests you could add in contracts that you could send other assassins on. I think it would be awesome if you could do it similar to the way it was done in assassins creed 2 where your assassins have levels and each mission you send them on gives them EXP to the next level, each mission has a rating that the assassin is given a % of success, the more assassins you send the greater the chance of success but the EXP is split between them. Or alternately you can go on the missions your self.

Also to keep things interesting why not make a economy specific to the Dark Brotherhood. By that I mean all the money earned through missions only give you a small percentage like 10-15% and the rest goes to the brotherhood which can be used for sanctuary purchases and upgrades.

Upgrades could include:

Decorations --------v
Alchemy stations - -> all of which are standard to upgrades
Enchanting stations - ^
Vendors
Trainers

Maybe a few other things but that should cover most categories.
