game freezing after patch

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 11:04 am

So after the patch the game got a little better in regards to the lash. It still continues for me at least, but not as often as it used to.

New it seems the game is freezing instead. And worst it happens when i'm going into a house or leaving a city. The game will freeze in the middle of auto saving and the save file will become corrupt. Then my playstation has to do a hard drive bad sector check or something.

I can shut of auto save I know but this is still messed up. I wasn't even playing for ten minutes and the game froze.

Happened around 20 times to me now. Here's the process I've been going through lately:
Load - play for about 10 minutes -freeze - turn off - repeat

This is getting out of hand... Get your s**t together Bethesda.

Yes the same thing is happening to me. Its becoming extremely painful to play the game.

I'm loving the game but the bugs are really starting to get to me. Someone wake me and let me know when this beta test is over.

Shame situation Im in. Enter any city and it's a guaranteed freeze. Sometimes I can't even get passed the initial load game screen.

Same problem here. I have seen some people say they have had no issues but the ones I am experiencing are becoming unmanageable. Two hard freezes yesterday and four today, all requiring a hard reset of my PS3. I get an error message on restart that says system was shut down incorrectly and then it starts checking files for corruption. I have even deleted my most recent saves and gone back to earlier ones but the freezes just start all over again. This can not be good for my PS3.

I had the frame rate problem starting about 30 hours of gameplay, but no freezes before the patch. I am now at about 160 hours of play time with a save file size of 12mb. The hard freezes are really starting to become more frequent with no more than 1 hour of play time before I get my first one. They may come as often as every 15 minutes. I am officially done with this game until the next patch comes out.

After similar problems with Oblivion and New Vegas, I should have known better than to buy this game on release day. I just got so excited about it that I ignored Beth's history of releasing broken games. It is really a shame because I have enjoyed this game (probably more than any game I've ever played). The damage I could be doing to my PS3 with all these hard resets is just no longer worth it. It is going on the shelf until the next patch. If that doesn't fix the problem then back to the shelf until the next patch. Maybe in February, if it is still not working, I will mail my copy to bethesda with a scathing letter of rebuke and tell them I don't even want a refund and will never buy another one of their games. In the grand scheme of things it will change absolutely nothing but may make me feel just a tiny bit better. Of course I would rather the game just worked. I am so disappointed that I may never finish this game the way I wanted to. It had so much potential.

I deleted my game data and re-installed. Worked well for a couple of hours and then the freezing came back. You asked if we deleted save files but won't that completely wipe my progress and I will need to start over? I am not really crazy about that idea at this point with all the time I have put into the game.

Iv been having this problem too only its not going into houses and cities its just during game play in general if i use my wait function it crashes within 10 mins of using it guaranteed, and now is pretty much guaranteed to crash after 1-2 hours of game play in the last 2 days it has crashed my console 7 times, each time the restarting my PS3 prompts improper shut down and now three of my skyrim saves (i think they were the auto saves) have become corrupt and have had to be delete, I'm now worried about playing it incase all the crashing is damaging my Playstation
Its also quite frustrating as before now i have never had my Playstaion crash on me in the 4-5 years of owning it

I had about 65 hours played, and everything was good. Occasional lag, nothing major. Then the patch hit. Now, any time I enter Riften, I can move around for about 10 seconds, then freeze. I guess the patch was tested as well as the game was prior to release. I can almost hear the execs at Bethesda. "Forget the bugs, we must release on 11/11/11 and get their money!!!" Skyrim would easily be my choice for game of the year, if it didn't feel like the game was released before it was really ready. Well, at least they can brag "Sure our game had all kinds of bugs, BUT IT CAME OUT ON 11/11/11!" (Sigh)
