Deleting Game Data

Post » Thu May 17, 2012 11:03 am

I'm sad to say that this patch has made it worse fore me actually. Aside from not fixing anything significant, it also completely removed magic resistance! I'm getting killed by bandit mages now (level 51) and it's really frustrating.

So I tried to delete the game data, so I could play the game without the patch, but I can't load my saves as it says: "This file was made with an updated game. Please install updates." Is there a way to bypass this? Sorry if this is a silly question; I'm not the most tech savvy person out there.

If you re-install, you'll have to update the game to the latest version again via internet, since your last save had the update too.

Sorry, do you mean deleting ALL the game data, not just the patch?

He means re-installing the patch will allow you to play your last save. If a save has a patch and you delete the patch the system can no longer read it because it lacks the "proper" coding to do so. So you have two options, one you can re-install the patch and wait like everyone else to enjoy the game or the second option is to simply risk starting a new game with your patch still gone and try playing then be aware of when you save to avoid overwriting you previous file .

So the old trick with simply deleting your game data to bypass patches won't work with Skyrim?
God, I must seem like a moron to you guys. :D

You'll have to start a new game if I want to run pre-patch.

No other options, huh? Well, time to play the wait-for-a-new-patch game. :(
