Simply turning shadows from Ultra to High maxes the game at 60 fps anywhere.

I know my i7 @ 3.2 is old but come on !

Before turning down shadows to High I was getting 30 to 40ish.50 to.60s in the boonies..maybe a low of 25 is something was heavy going on.( Playing in Windowed helped...helped a lot actually..scaling seemed off though )

With a few lurches here and there. Well actually a lot fps lurches and generally unacceptable erratic fps performance...so much so I decided to quit playing until a new profile or hotfix came out.

But I thought poor performance was due to no X-Fire profile out yet. ( Playing at 19 x 12 , High to Ultra ,0 to 2 AA, 8 AF,FSXX, Sliders to 3/4 to Max , Ultra on textures though ,including Shadows, V-sync on etc ...I did turn a few things off, Reflect Sky, Object fade etc )
Not the way my rig should be running it...not by a long shot.

So I stopped playing until I just saw an ad on Hulu a few minutes ago and decided to give it one more try.

For the heck of it I decided to just set Shadows to high...lo and behold ..a steady 60 fps...anywhere !

Now

I'm playing at 19 x 12, All Ultra,( Except shadows ) 4 AA, 16 AF, All sliders maxed and all options on...steady 60. I even tweaked the ini for better tree and object shadows etc.

Can't wait for profile so I can turn shadows back to Ultra as unlike some people I can tell the difference. Hopefully a profile or patch will fix this..though I hear from some it is hard coded into the game and impossible..maybe a modder will figure it out. I hope so

But for right now it's just fine...

Who knew that shadow rendering was the property of CPUs now a days...whatever happened to the GPU doing all the muscle work?

The reason I'm so happy is that this game needs AA bad...really bad..that lame FSXX or whatever made the game hurt my eyes with it's glowy blurring fake AA edge nonsense. Yuck !

Now I have 4 x AA and steady 60...

The bad part is I need to get a new motherboard and a water block so I can stably OC the hell out of my antique i7.

Whats the gaming world coming to.?

Can't wait until the new crop of console comes out so we can at least get better ports...

And for you CPU and GPU work assignment conspiratorial groups...my CPU , GPU or memory never got above 50 before turning down shadows.
