Sadly beating things only worked back in the oldschool cartridge days.

Don't use a hammer, use a handleld hatchet with a rubber grip.. less than 10 bucks at wal mart from the camping section and it's way more satisfying with the sharp end.

Used it on my xbox360. lol, really not kidding...

But I do like my ps3 and wouldn't consider it there.
