Lost save files

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 8:35 am

So I went to load up one of my several characters today and noticed almost all of my save files are gone, I even went to try and find them in the ps3 menu but they are totally missing. i save all my files with the camera facing my characters face so I dont accidently overwrite anything but still they are all just gone. has anyone else had this issue and is there anyway to recover them?

Unfortunately other people have reported that making more than one character will cause the first ones save data to be overwritten. Best way to have multiple characters is to use separate profiles and always back up your saves to a USB drive before turning off your PS3. Isn't it wonderful that you have to jump through so many [censored] hoops just to play a video game?

Happened to me too yesterday, first time in years of gaming. There should be a big fat sticky disclaimer in the forum warning about it.

if You're going to start a new character, do it through a new profile on your PS3. also, don't depend on your auto-saves that much. Have hard saves, multiples of them.

To be sure make a backup of your savefiles on a USB stick.

My second character's save overwrote at least one of the hard saves of the first one.

Somebody on this forum told me that any new character is going to overwrite slot 1 of savefiles. If you happen to have your most recent save on slot 1, it's lost. Anyway backing up is the wiser choice.

i was gonna back up when i lost saves due to hard crashes but i managed to stop them so completely forgot about backing up but now this has made me go back to yes im backing up my saves on an external device where the broken crappyness in skyrim cant get to it
