i have to say that the project gotham racing games are my favorite driving games (with real cars).i just yesterday picked up an xbox so that i could play pgr2 again (was my first experience of the pgr series).for some reason the games just click with me where gt/forza don't.
any game that has Edinburgh tracks immediately gets my approval (i don't live in edinburgh,but my grandfather was born there/used to have great holidays visiting his relations
as for 3 and 4 they are just fantastic games and no 4 especially still looks fantastic.
and not forgetting that it was pgr2 that introduced us to the joys of the nurburgring
