Most addictive snacks

Post » Sun May 20, 2012 2:54 am

Upon coming into contact with a can of Pringles chips while I was cooking breakfast, I decided to eat one. And that ended up being four. I finished cooking and ate my fill, then decided to see if, even on a full stomach, I'd still be tempted to eat more than one chip. Yep.

That's insane. I mean, they don't even taste all that good, but there's something about them that makes me have to eat more than one. Even when my body desires no food, it has no problem scarfing down Pringles. In fact, I've often eaten an entire industrial-sized can in one sitting, and wasn't any closer to being "full" than I was before I started.

The same thing happens to me with Flamin' Hot Cheetos (which I have long-since quit by now, but I frequently miss them), but that's because I love how they taste; it isn't an unexplained phenomenon like it is with these fake chips.

So who else gets this effect, and with what snacks?

I don't remember what it's called, but there is some kind of additive or something added to stuff like chips and so on. It's not really some "mysterious phenomenon".

I figured that much, but that was really just for comedic effect. :P

I'm like this with a lot of snacks. I'm very weak willed to temptation. :shakehead:

I never used to be a chip kinda guy, but right now I'm going through a doritos phase.

There are a couple of other things I tend to eat as you descrive aswell, Pringles being one of them, (the green one is the superior one btw).

Another one is http://www.norskdesign.no/getfile.php/Bildearkiv/Designpriser/Merket%20for%20god%20design/S%C3%B8rlandschips.jpg%20%28459x367%29.jpgnorwegian potato chip. I could eat them forever without getting full, and they are quite tasty.
And http://www.consuming.co/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/IMG_7158.jpg. It's a salty snack with milk chocolate cover. They are crispy, salty and sweet, and I could eat them forever. There's a chocolate bar version of them aswell.

I've noticed that about Pringles: they don't taste that good and make you feel ill, but they are addictive. I find crisps in general to be worse, though: less addictive but they taste better, which is bad. I've had to ban myself from having them in the house.
