If you haven't played a certain game in a while, do you go b

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 6:48 am

I have a really bad habit for starting a game, playing for about 5 hours then not playing it again for months. Normally by which point I've forgotten backstories, quests I'm doing, key mapping etc. So I never really know whether to start with a new game, or just fumble my way through the old one?

Am having it with KoA at the moment - I've done quite a few quests but it's been so long since I played that I've forgotten a huge chunk of what's going on....

Edit: Yeah the title is a bit stupid now I'm looking back on it. Hopefully you all know what I mean. ;)

Hah, yeah, I do exactly the same, sometimes repeatedly - if I come back to the game but still can't be bothered to finish it, I have to restart when I try again. Hence all the uncompleted games on my shelf :P

I know what you mean. I can suffer this problem with more linear games, ones that don't have open worlds, because I get bored with them not allowing you to explore. Sometimes I'll start afresh only to get bored in the exact same place!

There's a lot of games I haven't finished.

Yep, start anew. I like beginning a new game much more than having to remember http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NowWhereWasIGoingAgain.

Depends on the game. If it's an RPG or otherwise story heavy game I tend to start a new game. But in progress games of straightforward games like Atom Zombie Smasher, Super Meat Boy, Dungeons of Dredmor or Torchlight I can easily pick up again where I left off.

I don't remember not playing a game for extended periods of time. Usually, I have just one or two games installed on my computer so as soon as I finish one, I delete it.

Personally, it depends on whether or not I can get back into it at an arbitrary point. If I have issues catching back up, I'll restart.

Exactly, especially in games with poor quest logs. I almost always start again from scratch when I find myself in such a situation. Helps me get into the mood again as well, just dropping in the middle of a story doesn't feel as good.

I find it better to experience a game as a whole rather than just picking up where I left off even if I haven't forgotten bits of the story.

I go back to the old save game. Usually because I can figure out what I'm supposed to be doing.

Fallout: New Vegas is a perfect example. I left off in the Divide. It takes me a few minutes to get my bearings and figure out what I'm doing but I usually figure it out.

Do it all the time with Fallout and Pokemon.

There's nothing worse than going back to a game where you know you have 2 lv.100s and you load it up only to find a lv.7 bulbasaur named Rawrr because you little sister decided you didn't play it enough and didn't know if you'd let her play your current load then saves over it with her crappy one, soo much times! WASTED! :swear:

I play Fallout over and over just for my love of the game and wanting all the screen slides at the end.
