Unreal

How many of you guys have played Unreal?

I like that old game, in it's time it is one of a great game in my opinion. That is the game which makes me lost into a strange and mystery land...everything feel so unreal. The graphic is great at that time.

Unreal the first have a little back story in it, as the game progress, i realized that actually i am a some sort of a messiah for the Napali peoples. No wonder those aliens keep bow to me and help me gathering some weapons. They only said "umpada!umpada!" most of the time. I shot some of them in early playing lols but after so many play through they are my best acolyte, they are funny actually with only one face expression for all situations.

The scenery is also good, like i mention above, it is an unreal world, even though at that time the graphic still have polygons everywhere, but the feeling the game give to me making me explore everything and wasting many hours in it. The music is cool, i can say out of all game music, Unreal music really bring the mood to the game

Return To Napali is the sequel, have some new weapons and new gadgets, but the back story is not as good as the first one. Just return to the planet to retrieve a secret weapon blue print then got betrayed. It still provide new area to explore and some new things, but it is not as legendary as the first one.

Unfortunately Unreal II is not as great as the first Unreal. i am forced to play as John Dalton, and cannot create female character. The game itself have fall into the same like any other FPS games, typical FPS. But Unreal II have something unique in it such as alternate fire and some RPG elements. The back story have nothing to do and unrelated with the first Unreal, that is for me lessen the mood, it is like a completely different game. It is a about a Marshal named John Dalton who is bored with his life, eventually seeking an ancient artifact that turn out to be a secret weapon of galaxy destruction...as typical as it sound.

Unreal the first is worth playing still...

I played it a couple of years ago, it's a good game. The only problem I had with it is that I got stuck on some sort of puzzles a couple of times with no clue on how to solve them.

I trial and error-ed through the first one and stopped playing at the second one (according to steam that was about 8 hours into the game).

I've never played the single player games in the Unreal series which you mention but the Tournament games are great fun and still have a bunch of players online. Anymore though those guys mop the floor with me. Lots of memorable maps like Deck 16, Curse, and Facing Worlds which many FPS maps try to emulate. Just wish Epic would quit focusing on Gears of War and get back to Unreal which I thought always had a stronger world and story.

Yeah...sometimes it comes to that, sometimes the places are so dark so we cannot see the hidden path unless throwing some flares all around or using torchlight. And there are switches that we don't know what they are for. I remember in a place where the only way is underwater tunnel. i have been for hours searching on the land, it is so frustrating that time. And some path are so conceal we need to blast our way out

when that happen, sometimes i just running around back to square one

Out of all weapons, i love flack canon, alternate fire, because it can blow the Skaarj with one shot but need close range, the only reliable weapon in my opinion. The Skaarj are so fast, they can evade missiles if shot them at long range, unless using sniper rifle/canon while sneaking
