Traitors anyone?

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 8:17 am

So we know that each faction is made up of the races.

But, will that mean that our characters will have to stay aligned to their race's particular faction?

Like if I wanna be a Khajiit but not in the Doninion.

If anyone has seen any news or wiki info on this please link

First, never use the wiki (Elder Scrolls Wikia; use UESP instead) for anything.

Second, I second this. I wanna be an altmer in the Daggerfall Covenant!

I'm fairly certain that the race's allegiances are 'locked' into their factions. That is, if there are faction specific classes, I would assume so. Race specific classes would be interesting as well - though I've never heard any news on those, just speculating.

I never understood the NEED for race restrictions especially in a TES

I hope its possible.

It would allow me to be an Altmer while at the same time serving ALMSIVI.

Really? The UESP is poorly lain out, and I find it does not cover as much as the Elder Scrolls Wiki.

Or at the very least an Altmer who was deemed 'of less than pure blood' by the Dominion.

This would be a great option, although I doubt it is something they will be looking at upon release

Changing faction is a bad idea, because you can always joining the winning teams. MMOs are not real life simulators. They are social games first. Every feature justifing players to backstab their faction/guild/friends is a bad feature in my opinion.

But if you are just thinking to create an orc in dominion faction (without changing faction first) for example, this could be possible. But you have no real faction feeling with multi races in every faction/homeland.

in the old republic you could unlock the ability to play as a race of another faction, but never move your current character to a new faction.

I could see them adding something like what Everquest 2 did with its 2 faction world, they had a quest line where you could change you allegiance to another faction.

Both the UESP and the Elder Scrolsl wiki have problems with accuracy when it comes to lore information, but the elder scrolls wikia is by far the worst of the two. Several articles have either presently or previously been filled with fan-fiction, and the quality of the articles is generally poor.

This could be the best way. And make the quest HARD and LONG so people will think two times before change faction. But It will be possible in that way and not everyone will go another faction fast.

i hope we can be neutral above all, whoever is on the throne does not concern me, all i care about (in TES:O) is surviving and thriving as a mercenary

I think having a few "neutral" servers might be the way to go, having it be an option on every server might not go well, i could see that messing some servers up PVP wise, it would really svck to end up on a server full of "neutrals" if your really into the PVP.

I'm still a little undecided on this, given as has been said, how open the games have always been, but i haven't spent so much time pondering over the options since Skyrim's perk system. I think figuring out how these races will work together adds a really unique dynamic to the game, and as has been pointed out, it's easily the best way of stopping people from jumping ship. It may not be the most popular decision, but you've got to respect the devs for making the tough calls when they think it'll improve the game.

This would be my favourite option, providing a difficult / costly quest to defect from your faction. This way we could play any race in any faction, but the "core" races would still be in the majority.

You may not be able to directly betray your faction, but you can be a spy. I know several of the Selective are going to do just that.
