Do you believe in game burnout?

Hey boys and girls, I'm just wondering if you believe there is such a thing as game burnout. I have a game that I've played for 8 years with a clan and everything. It's a multiplayer first person shooter called Unreal Tournament 2004. It takes a whole lot of skill to play this game well and I'm about at a mid level skillwise. Well here for last few months I'm finding no joy in playing the game. Let me restate that: I'm finding myself loathing even hating this game. I simply don't care anymore. And then it snowballs, when you don't care you play poorly, on and on and on she goes. I thought I might just take a break, but it's like something inside me knows that I am completely DONE with this game. But this is a smart crowd at Bethesda Forums, so I thought about asking for your opinion. Do you ever have burnout over a certain game, or do you just take a break and it fixes itself?

Fire away, because I think I've fired my last shot on the game I'm talking about.
