No Imperials makes me sad

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 1:31 pm

Im going to try to keep this short. But you know there has always been on thing that bothered me about most games. All the Humans are this generic, cosmopolitan race. Very rarely do you see the Humans as this dark, anti-hero, society. This would of been one of the perfect ways to impliment a pretty much 'evil' human faction.

Humans in most games are these knights with paladins, blah, blah. When I saw that the Imperials made a deal with Molag Bal(I didn't at the time know this was in the past till I read further, I though a Human Necromancer empire vs the Thalmer would be awesome) I was like OFMEAOKFLNAEUIFBEGUIABFAWILFUBWLFIBUAWBFLA:SFB. An actual dark human empire, then I was informed we are playing the light centric hero.

Its not that big of a deal and it wont stop me from playing the game. But I really think this was a missed opportunity..

p.s: Make a necromacner class.

I found it odd that Imperials weren't playable in the game at all, but for different reasons.

Like I said in another thread, alot of MMOs have humans as a standard jack-of-all-trades race that has no specific weakness and no specific strengths, a good race for both beginners just getting into the game, and for experienced players alike that don't like dealing with the weaknesses, Imperials have traditionally been in this role in the other Elder Scrolls games. It seems like an odd choice to just suddenly up and drop them when going into a field where a standard race is, well, standard.

Even storywise it could have worked with an Imperial Refugee handwave

having no jack of all trades character actually makes me happy. this way all the races can be interresting. And finaly we get a game not centered around ONE race and the rest tacked on (cause quite frankly thats how it works fro most MMORPG) also Bretons are already quite generic...

Yeah I agree everyone chose Humans or Orcs in WoW.

I personally like the idea of none. But Bretons are a mix between elf and human and use magic thats not to bad!

But I just wish the Imperials were in game a dark race would be really nice.

Personally, I dont care, I dont like the imperials. And if they′re there, no problem if they′re not aplayable race. You have a lot of "human" races to choose from (Breton, Redguard, Nord)

The point wasn't palying a human race, it was making a human race that was dark centric.

Dark human, think of WoW for example the Humans in WoW were these bunch of light, flower loving, cosmopolitans. A Dark Centric hero would be something like a nation of humans full of necromancers. Maybe having skeletons do their work for them. Cool stuff like that(Maybe not exactly like that).

But a essentially an Anti-hero nation if that makes sense.

I dont like WoW so I cant think or compare with it. And I hardly found the Cyrodilian people be necromancers... In any case they are poor peasants
"Tamriel was in the time known as the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Interregnum. Nibenay and Colovia split apart; farms, villages, and even highways were in ruin. Many tried to claim the Imperial throne and this chaos lasted for centuries."
That is what was happening during the setting of this game in the Second Era.
So I hardly find necromancers, just poor people trying to survive. In any case, the "faction" as "imperials" is inexistant because there is no Empire, not even an united province. You may conquer a portion of it for your faction, but I think they ll just be NPCs inhabitating it.

We don't really know much about the game but Mannimarco does play a huge role.
Also.
"he Imperials – natives to the province of Cyrodiil – made a deal with the Daedric prince Molag Bal. At the beginning of Elder Scrolls Online, players join one of three factions that not only oppose the Imperials and Molag Bal’s undead army,"

The Undead Army is of Molag Bal, what have the imperials to do with that? In any case they′re just slaves of the Daedroth.
And Mannimarco... is an Altmer... what have he to do there?

Does it really matter. You're making this into a bigger deal than it needs to be. I know my lore but its really not THAT big of a deal.

It also says "oppose the imperials" I hope you don't think you're going to only be fighting peasants.

You're the one however questioning the fact of a possibility of a dark centric human race. And for the record I said it makes me sad they are not there. I even said in my OP "Its not that big of a deal and it wont stop me from playing the game. But I really think this was a missed opportunity.."

I questioning something that I read funny, nothing more. Just an opinion, but It seems you dont like it. I can hardly imagine a "dark centric human race" as you say (in TES world of course). And I was really pissed off by the WoW comparisson but that′s all.
If you like it, no problem with me, keep liking the idea, me I dont and I just stated my point.
Look at the good things: we will met in game :run:

How were you pissed about the wow comparison I wasn't even refering to this game was anything like WoW. My point was the Imperials, the Stormwind Humans, The Republic(Starwars) are all the standard cosmopolitan, democratic(some more than others) human race that excells in diplomacy and all that other standard crap.

My point was to make a race that was the opposite of that... Sorry but that was your reading comprehension that was bad.

And meeting in game would be interesting!

That was the line my friend.
And yes, in the point that now you are expressing of a faction of diplomatic/merchants (is what the Imperials are the best) could be nice.
But the line you stated above... not.
