Guild wars 2 and skyrim

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 10:05 pm

I know that in aug 1st GW2 will be out. But i looked at the current specs to play gw2 and i got a little confused.
Does guild wars 2 graphics on high/very high/ultra > skyrim's ultra (vanilla)?
My rig was auto detected as 'High' on vanilla skyrim and i get really good frames. But i looked at my rig for GW2 and surprisingly it was predicted that i can only play on low/medium. But technically speaking, if i can play skyrim on high with no problems 30fps+ in riften forests, then i should be able to play GW2 on very high/ultra right????? Something is wrong.

I don't know about GW2's system requirements, but unmodded Skyrim doesn't require much and while it's all very pretty for an Xbox title, compared to modern PC games it doesn't look particularly impressive. It wouldn't surprise me if GW2 had higher system requirements and better graphics, even though it's an MMO.

here is my rig:

i7 2630QM 2.0ghz 2.9ghz turboboost maximum, but i set to 90% CPU speed
AMD 6570m 1gb GDDR5. 600/800 clock 51.2gb/s bandwidth bus 128bit(i believe). My GPU was downclocked as the normal clock is 650/900.
4gb ram
5400rpm WD HDD
Broadband internet connection cable ftw

If there is an option to customise the GW2 setting, i would make shadows low, 4x AA and turn off SSAO(if any). So....it shouldnt be that hard on my PC right?????????

Should be fine. GW2 is one of those games that can run very well on mid-range rigs, but requires a pretty fast one to run on Ultra settings. In other words, it's a very flexible game engine. Unless your PC is a total scrap heap like mine, you'll be able to play.
