Casting Interruptions

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:03 pm

How do you guys think casting will look in ESO? In those long dev videos they talked about not having cast bars in order to maintain a clean UI. If we as players won't have cast bars (ala WoW), im assuming it's going to be more like DAoCs system. Your character just goes through a motion with some spell effects. However, in DAoC they had HARD interrupts. This meant that if you were a wizard trying to cast a fireball spell, or a healer about to cast a heal, and you took damage mid-cast, the spell would completely shut down. You had to get out of combat for a couple seconds in order to recast successfully. It would not just get delayed a little bit and then go off. Of course DAoC also had instant cast spells and what not, but for larger spells that required a amount of time to cast this was how it worked. Personally, I don't see them implementing hard interrupts in ESO. It will probably be like wows system except without a cast bar.

Too hard to tell. They might make it so that the only interrupts are from actual stuns, silences, or another form of CC.

I would prefer if spells could be interrupted by both damage and CC, however I would also hope that in combination with that you could boost your concentration to lower the chance of being interrupted.

Using stamina in conjunction with your spell cast to decrease interruption chance?

The more Stamina you have the less chance of being interrupted? Eh... very easily breakable I think. Not to mention that if you are in a group, you probably will have a full Stamina meter.

If I were to use stamina in order to slam my shield in your face, you can be certain any spell you wanted to cast got interrupted :P

I feel like a shield bash would be the more powerful of the two weapon attacks, and would cause a stun of some duration depending on how effecient you are with shields.

No, you use stamina while you cast. It would make it so that you wouldn't get interrupted as easily but would leave you open to CC later since it would consume a bunch of stamina.

Having to use Stamina and Magicka for spells? Thanks but no.
