blink can be easily abused without mana

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:44 am

If blink requires on mana, plus given to you at the beginning,it becomes really easy top lay.You can finish of levels in 5 minutes.Unless it is balanced with mana it will be easy.I like easy games, but insanely easy is just too much easy.

That's what they are going with unfortunately. And it's really not that big of a problem. It's way better than the regenerating mana some people want. Also I would quite call it abusing. If you where abusing it you would actually lose mana and unless you know the mission layout you won't be able to abuse it without making mistakes or without luck. It's also up to the player in the long run. If someone just wants to teleport around each mission, let him have his 'fun'.

well if anybody wants to "abuse" the blink power, then by all means let them, it's their loss.

That's another thing. People will always try to abuse something if they want to. I for one always play with the weakest strategy and make it better through practice and skill.

i wouldn't say that i play with the "weakest" strategy, but abusing a game mechanic/glitch just seems boring to me.

Do you know if it's an upgradeable skill? Higher the upgrade, the further you can blink?

Yes, it is exactly how you described it.

Good stuff.

Do you reckon the demo's shown would've been using fully upgraded skills, cus it did look a bit effortless traversing the environment.

The demo at The Golden Cat did not have upgraded Blink. There was a short piece of gameplay in an interview with GameSpot where they showed the upgraded Blink and it has a larger range don't worry.

I don't think it will matter as much as you think it will. The game seems to be designed so that Blink is one of your primary methods of travel. It won't get you everywhere, and it won't do everything for you, but it will make leaping from shadow to shadow, which is what the game is about, viable.

Like Sneaky Basterds said, it's a faster passed Thief. And I do think they are right in that assumption.

It doesn't have a CD but if you cast it rapidly you'll lose all your spiritual essence (read Mana) quite fast.

In fact, there is a (very short) cooldown.

If the level designers new about blink I'm pretty sure they designed levels where you couldn't just blink all the way to the end.

You can't blink through walls, doors, windows, or anything. Most of the missions seem to have objectives inside so blinking shouldn't be too OP...

If you call using it sparingly at the pace the regen naturally allows abuse then I would differ. But if you do in fact abuse it by rapidly spamming blink then your mana will in fact suffer.

Like others have said, if people want to abuse it, then they will have to deal with the losses.
