"You have but one life..." - hardcoe discussion.

The option to create a character with one life - is this interesting to you?

By now, most of us know that one of our core character features is that our soul has been taken away from us - and that when we die, we will be able to resurrect based on that fact. But what if you had the option to make a "hardcoe character" (if you die once, that character is done for) - just like in the Diablo franchise - how many of you would want to do it? And would it add to a certain RP-perspective?

Personally I would quite like it (seeing as I've done a 180 on the whole faction-provinces-restriction) it could very well help my wish to play the other races, as well as giving me that feeling of having to perform my moves in a more defensive and careful fashion. Plus feeling more involved in my single-life character. There could even be a sort of Arena-style-event at the tailend, where you face off another player (in standard arena gear) in a true Deathmatch. And even though the stakes would be quite high, it could also be extremely fun (or terribly heartcrushing).

this is a beating on a dead horse (at least in other, more sandbox-like games' forums); perma-death is an option that does not work in an online game - or any other game.

And why's that? We won't have any homebound-PvP/ganking to worry about, only mobs and fools. And having to rely upon your ability to stay alive could very well bolster your ability to PvP on a normal character. As for the time investment and gear you'll lose, well, I understand permanent death isn't for everyone - but for many players I'm sure it could be quite thrilling (myself included).
