What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a creative sandbox game centered around exploration and survival; exploring and gathering resources allows you to protect yourself against a variety of beasties that hunt you down during the night. The creative sandbox elements of the game fuel your want to survive and gather, which in turn allow you to build many wonderful creations. Basic fluid physics also provide interesting means of creating basic machines.
The multiplayer is very similar to the single-player, just with more people and chat, TeamSpeak has also been implemented for both servers.

Tekkit is currenlty not whitelisted, but may soon change to forum registration whitelist.

Email mrtankjump -at- gmail -dot- com ,message 'mrtankjump' on Steam, or simply send a PM to mrtankjump if you have any issues accessing the server.

Colored Titles Explained:

Purple = Admin [Aedra]
Green= Moderator [Mod]
Yellow = Donator [Jarl]
Grey = Default [Citizen]

The cost of the new server is $75 monthly, due by the 6th of each month. Some really awesome people help support the costs each month. You can be awesome too: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=F9AK9VK9NYXD4&lc=US&item_name=TESFan%20Server¤cy_code=USD&bn=PP-DonationsBF%3abtn_donateCC_LG.gif%3aNonHosted
Donators who use the same email address with paypal as is registered with the forum will become 'supporters' as labled on the forums and in game, automatically. Those who don't want to use the same email can simply contact mrtankjump with the details of your transaction and I will make it happen.

Due to an increase in donations, we can consider upgrading memory for another $25 monthly. This would give us 16GB total, and each server would be running on a ramdisk. Bar any network issues, chunk loading should be instant when on ramdisk. Let me know what y'all think, as long as the money can be put up for it each month, and it is something the community wants, I'll make it happen.

You can come build a river ide town with me, it's west of spawn, about 100 blocks or less, and is neighbouring Sky's place - well Sky is neighbouring me but still there are people around :smile:
I plan on doing some RPing, just need to think of what I want to do.

Teamspeak + Mirg recording + Me online = Me:"[censored] piece of [censored]!!!" Everyone else:"I have no idea what you just said..." :lmao:
I had that issue on the BSF Teamspeak server. Damn foreigners :P
I log in and find the server empty most of the time. If the map's really entering its death throes and is about to be scrapped, please make the next one a tekkit map... I can hardly see myself going back to vanilla any time soon.
Not sure what you're meaning here - there are two separate maps, a Tekkit one and a vanilla one, and they're completely independent.
If we're discussing the possibility of an Arabian RP, would it make more sense to do it on the vanilla server, since it is basically dead at this point, and we could do with generating a large desert for it, which you can't really get with the usual MC maps. Unless of course, people felt that Tekkit would be useful for such an RP, and if there was some way to control biome generation on the current map?

Or could such an idea work for a vanilla 1.3 map? I hope people agree that we really need to play as we build, because if we wait until the city is finished to start playing in character, everyone will get bored halfway through.

I think any sort of old-style RP should be done on vanilla, since there's absolutely no reason for high-tech stuff in an ancient world. I spoke to Tank on Steam a while back, and he said a third world can be put up for RP if we want it, though I don't see much point while the vanilla map lies empty.
That's kind of worse, really, since if you can get what you want easily, there's little reason to interact with people.
Agreed. Every successful RP we've had has involved some sort of economic / trade factor.

:tongue: The videos around here somewhere...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8dZW0M4sSk

When was the last time the server tried an RP on a Tekkit server? Never, point in shooting down something that's not been tried before and provides a lot more than the base game. I'm still not seeing how it can be that hard - Does anyone have self control?

Bottom right of the "normal" biome pic (the desert part) looks like a [censored] :tongue:

I'm not against using Tekkit in RPs - it can add a lot - but if we're doing something pre-industrial revolution, most of its features would be out of place. And it's not so much about self-control; having some people using effectively spawned items and some not simply doesn't work. Any RP involving Tekkit would have to have condensers removed. Artistic licence can be used to envisage quarries as slave-driven mines if really needed, but having access to "free materials" even for some people throws any aspect of trade completely out of whack. And trade is one of the main things that pulls people together.

Could be. While I feel that biomes in vanilla are a little small, my main gripe is with the lack of "planetary formation" to it. My real desire would be to have biomes form logically, even if it meant a finite map size. I wouldn't mind either way if we used large biomes.

So really the gripe is just with the collector things, fair enough, but those that are doing the RPing should know themselves that they're not to be use so avoiding creating them and going about the RP should be easy enough. About Tekkit being irrelevant for pre-industrialisation, I was thinking of the uses besides IC and EE, more like the stuff from Redpower(name?) like the saw, the new blocks and the artistic decor that comes with using the saw and additional blocks.

That link was from turns, you already commented on it :P I was merely saying how the bottom right looked like a winky (since I can't say [censored] for some reason). Like I said before though EE can help you make biomes bigger using the Philosophers Stone and donating time to changing the land as you need.

On another note - Can the function to talk via DynMap be returned. I feel like talking to people through that when I can't access the game.
