Zero Punctuation Mentions Dishonored

-edit- started thinking, this probably belongs in the tidbit thread, if a mod would like to move it there feel free, I don't know how to delete my thread. -/edit-

So Zero Punc did it's E3 video, and the problems many of you have mentioned with the trailer really pulled to the surface. Yahtzee has been dying for a game dishonored describes itself as (a stealth action game, and deus ex and thief were a couple of this favorite games of all time,) but the trailer shows pretty much nothing but throat stabbing and what seems like non-sequitur children and he's gets the impression that it's all the game is about.

Look forward to his actual review of the game after it comes out.

Me too. Might be like his bioshock review... or if he waits a year before reviewing it, his psychonaughts review where he asks you to hurt yourself and then apologizes if you've played the game.

As always liked the video and I thought he will like killing people and watching them take their last breath as you slowly remove the blade from their necks. All and all, I agree with the Watch Dogs bit...too bad it's really scripted, shallow and the only thing it has going for it is the technology. I couldn't resist sorry.

All and all, when the game actually comes and it's not near Portal's greatness it will receive a lot of jokes from him. And we'd all like that of course.

It's cool when people watch a trailer about a game and assume that's all the game is going to be about, especially when said person is a member of the press and is expected to DO HIS [censored] RESEARCH.

How is it scripted or shallow? We know minimal details about it, and all of those details add up to a pretty impressive game, and literally none of it has anything to do with technology.

well a trailer really should convey a lot of info about the game in a short amount of time. I feel the cinematic trailer was very good for dishonored... but the game play trailer I felt was lacking a bit.

True we can't criticize the final product before it came out. That would show utter ignorance or some godly clairevoyance. We can still criticize the demo however and I might as well do that.

Shallow because they can very easily screw up the flow of the gameplay with hacking being a one button Deus Ex Machina and scripted because we need to see the final product in order to criticize the the 'amazing A.I.'.

Like I said, I agree that the product is far from finished and hey who knows they might actually make a good game out of this. Point is, I was taken in by hype and now I am cautiously sceptical.

*claps*

Well said.

It's flashy enough to be deemed 'incredible'. Heh...yeh rite.

'Course it's visually nice, but it jus turns into a cover shooter with ass creed ear-wigging & the ability to turn things off wirelessly with your i-phone.

Hyped up the ass.

The prospect of the game, world surveilance, near future setting is all that really sets it apart if anything. And the multiplayer reveal was pretty good.

I just hope it doesn't go for the gimmick only because that will ruin the whole subplot of "Are we really safe?" and "Who or what can we trust?" and so on. Some would say that that Portal used a gimmick 90% of the time. Yeah but it used it's gimmick in a creative way and it enhanced the gameplay. Watch Dogs is more like: you press a button and you choose which creative way to set up things to your liking. Which is good but it makes you more into a demigod and unless there is some constraint or at least add context to the whole experience like Portal did, then it will be really shallow.

I don't mind people hyping for the game, I personally think it can be a really nice title. Just don't get your hopes up too high because they might fall and shatter to the ground.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the Dishonored Zero Punctuation. I can already hear the puns...

I don't anticipate a positive review from Zero Punctuation and neither should you. Yahtzee isn't paid to congratulate good games, he's paid to tear down positive hype and tell everyone why their favorite franchise svcks. He'll do the same for Dishonored, mark my words. It's not going to be a flawless game, by any stretch. I anticipate him criticizing the graphics, the obvious plot twists and the fact that blink is the only power you really need. He'll commend it's Half Life-esque aesthetic, while pointing out that Half Life was released years ago, and end up saying that while trying to be Thief is good, Dishonored falls short.

He's a cynic and a satirist. Don't fool yourself into thinking he'll give Dishonored a positive, let alone glowing, review.

He's not a cynic, he's just a hypocrite. TotalBiscuit is a cynic. Yahtzee just gets paid to say funny things in a British accent. He gave No More Heroes a glowing review and then took a huge steaming poop all over MadWorld, which is practically the same game with a different attitude. I haven't watched him in forever, because it just got too obvious that half of the things he says aren't even really his opinion.

I should hope that we all know that, but some people seem to be acting dangerously optimistic in this thread. Suggesting that it will be like his Bioshock or Psychonauts review, for example.

Well he did bash on Bioshock overall but the Psychonauts will be great. There is not a doubt in my mind that it will be exactly as you described it.
