A simple question:

The Aedra died when Mundus was created, but how come their still around?

Ever see this suspense flick with Bruce Willis? M. Night Shyamalan directed it? I won't spoil it for you if you haven't.

They didn't die. The best parallel I can draw is that the Aedra are in a comatose state. But I'm sure one of the more experienced lore buffs has a better explanation

They are dead. Just not in the same complete way mortals die.
When you walk on Nirn, you're stepping on the corpses of the http://www.imperial-library.info/content/monomyth. Likewise, the moons are a corpse of an http://www.imperial-library.info/content/lunar-lorkhan.
However, their (for lack of a better word) essence exists within the realm they created, which is why you can sort of interact with them.

Wait, I must have missed this. The Nine Divines are dead? How is that possible when Akatosh appears during the Oblivion crisis, and Talos was ascended to an Aedra after the creation of Mundus?

Actually, the Aedra are dead in the same way that mortals are alive.

What you see at the end of Oblivion was the "Avatar" of Akatosh, not the real deal. Martin was channeling Akatosh's power.
Talos is a special case.
I want to say he's not technically an Aedra, because he didn't help create the mortal realm and more reasons, that I can't explain well enough.
Not 100% sure on that. Someone will probably have a better explanation later today.

I'm not sure what that means. Can you clarify?

If I'm reading the Monomyth correctly, the creation myths point do not seem to point towards the concept of "death" as we mortals understand it.

Two things of note:
1. The body of Lokhan forms the moon. But the moons seem to be in an everlasting state of flux, and probably contain magical energies within them. It is possible that "death" in that case is a mortal construct.
2. In the Altmeri myth (admittedly, I skimmed through), it is said that some of the Gods intermarried with man and 'soiled time's line'. First, there is no evidence that Akatosh himself existed as an entity; only that he is an aspect of time, and the creation myths point towards a split where time essentially becomes what we know it as. Therefore, it is also possible that Akatosh himself ent Akatosh, but an incomprehensible concept from which time originated.

...I may also be reading too much into things.
