The Elder Scrolls Online

Quick question, does anyone know why the new upcoming "Elder scrolls online" forum section not part of the orginal "Elder scrolls" forum section. i mean i relize it's an entirely new game being developed by zenimax online studios and all that junk but it's still an Elder scrolls game and I just can't help but feel it belongs among its fellow Elder scrolls brethren.

Agreed, because it's not an Elder Scrolls game. It is an Elder Scrolls online game. So it doesn't belong with the others. They are about 'you are who you play and do what you want to do' how can a MMO be that?

well exactly, even though i admit i will be playing TESO (and donating countless hours of my time into it) it's still not an Elder scrolls game in the classic sense, an MMO will be far more restrictive then the freedom we players have come to expect from TES yet it is still of the same series featuring the same features us fans have come to love, i just disagree with TESO having its own forum section. It would Be like letting "The Elder scroll adventures" have its own forum section.

coz all it got in common is that it uses the lore-world from the series, but has otherwise nothing to do with the series

they are not 'kin' if games can even be classified that way

The real reason is that 1. it's being made by Zenimax Online Studios rather than Bethesda, well, mostly, and 2. the forum will eventually (according to one of the sticky posts, "in the not-too-distant future" [next Sunday A.D. :P ] be moved somewhere else entirely. The "really an Elder Scrolls game" thing the rest are bringing up is an argument I'm going to leave behind since I'm really not in the mood. Safe to say that different people are going to have different ideas of what that even means, so it'd be a waste of time anyway.

well TESO is no doubt a real elder scrolls game, it follows the lore and from what I've read stays true to what players should expect in an ES game. Now regaurdless of the fact that its just being made for stupid fans who have been begging Beth for multi-player integration in an Elder scrolls game for years it still belongs in the main Elder scrolls forum section.

The separation is mostly because it is an MMO based on The Elder Scrolls world. The MMO stands for Massively Multi-player Online. Implying this game will have 1,000's of players sharing the same world at the same time. So it is very unique when compared to it's brethren and therefore should have different forums.

Besides it could cause confusion. If people use similar terms and they mean different things. Maybe crafting for example. Though they would be doing the same thing. Many MMO types might be worried about the crafting system either making stuff that sells well to other players in the Auction House. Or making stuff they can give to their friends. Both of which would probably be of no concern to someone playing all the other single player versions of the game.

That's a good point but still the breakdown of the ESO forum while withen the Elder scrolls main forum shouldnt really confuse anyone
