Okay, so basically I see this button called "ignore" on the User CP. I know, generally, it allows you to not be able to see the contents of the post someone you've ignored, but does it expand beyond that?

Suppose I put someone in another forum on ignore for whatever reason. I have a few questions about that:

#1- Would they be able to know I'm online? See my profile even though they're on my ignore list? See my posts?

#2- Will I be able to post in their profile when they're on my ignore list?

#3- Will they be able to PM me or contact me in any way if I have them on ignore? Would they get a message saying "[username] has you on his/her ignore list"?

The reason I ask is because there's a person on another forum I am considering putting on 'ignore'. This person isn't mean or malicious to me, but this person is a tad annoying and wants to have constant PM sessions with me.

I don't want to quit the forum, as I love it a lot. I don't want to not go just because of one person. But I also do not want to hurt the person's feelings, like if they try to get to my profile, only to find out that I have them on ignore.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

EDIT: When I meant forum, I meant a completely different forum that is about something entirely different. Not this one.

1. Yes. All the Ignore feature does is hide their posts from you (unless you click the button to view it)

2. I'd assume so.

3. I don't think they will be able to PM you. Not sure though

It's not a person from this forum. It's from another forum, about something entirely different. You all are my friends here.

I'm pretty sure there's options to certain things so you can block posts and PMs, but they won't be notified when you ignore them or anything afaik and they can still see you're online unless you sign in anonymously.

Do you mean another section of this forum? Or a different forum entirely? If its the latter, different forums can have different ways of handling the "Ignore" function.

Edit: Just saw you said it wasn't someone on this forum. Then yeah, it's hard to help since what's true for this forum might not be true for the one you're on.

I meant a different forum entirely.

Then what we tell you could be completely worthless. Different forums use different software, different versions of software, and activated different features even for the same software.
