Should I buy madden games?

Post » Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:30 am

I know Madden is disliked in the Forums since it is pretty much a cashcow made by EA, however, I have joined a High School Football team for the first time and I figured it would be a great idea to buy some Madden games so I can get "feel" of what playing Football is like. I have only bough Madden 12 but should I buy them annually, once every two yeard, or just stick with 12, until I'm done with High School or even College Football?

I would but my original xbox is broken and that's the only previous generation console I have. Unless you're also talking about the ones from the begging of this generation?

This pretty much. Each edition isn't much more than a roster update. There might be some slight graphics and gameplay tweaks, but you aren't missing much.

I know that bur problem is that my old Xbox is not working so I will have to but the newer ones. (I remember playing 7 when I was a kid and I had fun with that one, not as much as 12 sadly.) Unless you know some copies from this generation that is cheap.

Um... the 360 came out in 2005. 7 years ago...

Get Madden 10. Anyways, if your trying to learn to play football, you should probably just play it.

I know that. I thought they were talking about the old games from the previous generation. So are the ones from 2005-7 are any cheap?

He said ones from 2 years ago. You can probably get a used Madden 10 for around 10 bucks. 4.99 on gamestop. Madden 11 is 8 bucks.

I must of misread him. I will probably buy madden 10 or 11 next year. Or even just stick with 12 the whole way since the games have similar gameplay.

If you actually enjoy the NFL then you certainly are going to want updated rosters. If you just want to know about football, then watch football. The games try to be realistic, but are pretty silly sometimes.

I do watch the NFL, and know allot about the sport because of it, but I also wanted to play Madden so I can see exactly how plays work and use trial and error to outsmart a player.

I used to be a big madden fan..played them all up to Madden 2005.

That said, the best IMO is Madden 2005 which should be easy to find in those PS2 bargain bins. If you want a hard Madden, that'd be 2004. Even on Rookie difficulty, it's hard to get a passing/running game going. But 2005 is perhaps a great mixture of EVERYTHING you could possibly want in a Madden game, and it can be quite addicting to play.

I can't tell you anything about 2006-2012. As you're looking to see how plays work, then later games would be best, since each madden doesn't always have the same playbooks.
