What are some good DX1011 games?

Post » Wed Jul 18, 2012 2:38 am

I just installed my new GTX 680 yesterday and want all the games I can play that use DX10/11.

I'm looking for mostly DX11.

I already have:

Crysis 1 & 2
Metro 2033
STALKER series
Max Payne 3
Batman AA/AC
The Wticher 2
Just Cause 2
Total War SHOGUN 2

Just Cause 2 is pretty much the only game that doesn't support DX9 at all but require a newer DX, isn't it? In most other games that have both DX9 and DX10 support, the difference is very minor.

Also, I wasn't aware of The Witcher 2 supporting anything else than DX9.

Deus Ex Human Revolution in DirectX11 mode has tesselation on some characters and slightly better shadows. It's not really a big deal.

Yep, I can't think of any others at the moment.

Same here. To my knowledge, TW2 is a DX9 only game.

Indeed, which just shows even more that DX10/11 isn't that great. Or at least, not yet used in such a significant way that blows DX9 games out of the water. It probably never will.

Yep.

Developers should at this point (and should've years ago already), imo, start focusing more on content instead of enhancing the visual quality. Games do not need to look better than they do now.

I knew TW2 was DX9....I don't know why I put it on that list.

In any case, I think DX11 is far superior to DX9. I can tell. When things are maxed out in DX11 it's sooooo nice looking.

I'm not saying DX9 is bad.....DX9 is fantabulous, but the things you can do with DX11 are far superior and do not require super computers to do.

I wouldn't question the quality of DX11 over DX9, it'd be absurd if higher level technology couldn't do better than its previous iterations, but I would question the need for what it offers. Does it really bring anything worthwhile to the table (anymore)?

It's only b/c developers are still using DX9 after so many years due to consoles. Half Life 2 was DX9.....in 2004. Thats 7 years. After that long anything is going to be in great quality.

DX11 can do more with less relatively speaking. Once the developers move to DX11 fully there will be more bells and whistles.

But, if you play a game like Crysis 2 on ultra with DX11 and hi res textures you'll see the difference.
