Since the whole rat mechanic is important,it seems odd that the rats would attack everyone except you.

Looking at the arcane pack(GameStop),it says white rats won't attack you.So:

1. Do rats actually attack you?
2.What are the differences between white and regular rats?
3.Is there a rat story?

1. Rats attack you.
2. White rats give you health when you eat them. You can upgrade them with a rune to give you mana as well and make them friendly towards you.
3. There is a plague going on if that's what you mean.

A few notes:
1. They attack you if they have no better target.
2. Nothing to add.
3. A rat plague (spread by rats), to be specific.
