How does being a guild member work with new games?

Hello, this is a question to those who play MMOs and have been in a guild for a few years or for more than one game. Let's say you join a guild during a new game to have people to play with. A year or two later a newer game comes out. If the whole guild decides to move onto a new game and disband in the current game, but you still want to play the current game, then what do you do? Join a second guild?

What if a new game comes out that no one in the guild is interested in playing but you decide to still try out the game. How do you then deal with not having anyone to play with and not joining another guild because you are already a member of one, even if that guild doesn't play this game?

If you are wondering why I am asking this it is because I have only ever been in one serious guild years back and when the guild leader got tired of the game he kicked everyone out. Then people tried joining other guilds in the game and it got very hard to keep everyone together. People left the game to try new games and not everyone followed. I understand some guilds have more than one game that they play but I find it hard to play more than one online game at a time and be dedicated to them all. This is probably why I haven't played any MMOs for a while but I've been trying out Guild Wars 2 and it makes me want to join a guild to have people to play with.

I'll usually swap guilds.

When I was playing Star Wars Galaxies, my original guild split up while I took a year long break from the game. When I got back, I joined another guild on the same server.

I doubt you'll hurt anyones feeling if you join a different guild in another game that they don't play...

Yea, it's not like this one guild owns you, theres no reason you can't be in multiple ones across various games or on one game on different servers. If current guildies or the guild leader has an issue with it, tell him/her to go svck one and do what you wanna do.

Personally, I avoid guilds and just try to make friends in games. Theres a diference imo between what some call 'scraggly randoms' and good people you can game with. Best advice I can give is to go play, talk to people and try to make a few pals.
