Destroying the Dark Brotherhood Quest

Post » Tue Jul 24, 2012 2:20 pm

Is it just me, or does anyone else wish there was another way to trigger the "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" quest other than killing the lady in the Orphanage?

Like maybe after the DB tries and fails to assassinate you, you bring the note to the Pentius Oculous and then they give the quest? Or you can just offer to go do it for them? Or just have it the ability to break down their front door and kill them without the quest?

Because it seems kind of silly that I have to murder an innocent (though a massive [censored]) person in order to stop a band of murderers.

Ya, I wish there was another way, but alas there is none that I know of.

Well, the Pentius Oculous doesn't appear until later down the Dark Brotherhood questline, but yes, they should have been some other way of doing it. Specifically, have some kind of Imperial officer of some kind have a grudge against them. Then again, the Pentius Oculous fits the picture, but they're not in Skyrim during that time.

This woman was a psychotic person who tortured the children, so she did deserve to die.

According to my stats, Tiberius (my current character) killed 476 people in the course of his adventure. 475 of them were either war (he sided with the Empire), business (hunting bandits and necromancers), or self-defense. Grelod was the only person he killed because she just friggin' needed to die.

I wish there was a way to get Grelod dismissed from her post, run out of town, thrown in a cell, or sent to the block. But there's not. You kill her or you let her keep abusing the defenseless kids in her care.

As Esburn said, justice is often hard, but it's still justice.

That isn't the point, and who deserves death and why is a highly debatable point. Hell, one could argue that it's wrong to kill, period, no matter what some evil person has done.

More options are nice, yes. It does seem silly that in order to destroy them you have to do something wrong (to someone playing a GOOD character...) first.

Meh, he also wanted to kill someone for a crime that happened hundreds of years ago.
