The Blades: Enemies of the Dragonborn

Post » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:20 pm

The Blades are supposed to protectors of ALL Tamriel. And they pledge loyalty and service to the Dragonborn.

But here is the actual sad truth....

The Blades have been attempting to use the Dragonborn to make him/her into their tool of violence and killing.
They will not help me unless I kill Paarthunax, and they say that they would be breaking their oath to protect Tamriel of dragons if they helped me. And they say I'm not welcome there at Sky Haven Temple until "Justice"
has been on Paarthunax for what he had done to mortal kind thousands of years before.

Paarthunax may have done bad things while he served Alduin, but he helped the original heroes defeat Alduin after Paarthunax changed his own ways. And he has been leading the Graybeards and has helped the Dragonborn in his quest to defeat Alduin. As far as i'm concerned, Paarthunax has made up for ALL the atrocities he has committed against mortal kind.

The Greybeards were definately right, The Blades were always trying to use the Dragonborn. And whether they
know it or not, by refusing to help or serve the Dragonborn, they are still breaking their oath...because The Blades had sworn loyalty to the Dragonborn(see "The Book of the Dragonborn" and "The Rise and Fall of The
Blades"). And as far as i'm concerned, if The Blades are going to try to make me their puppet, then they are an
enemy.

I have tried to kill Delphine and Esbern, but they are unkillable characters. If the guys at Bethesda see this, I want them to make a patch or update that will disable their unkillable function so that I can kill them. And I'd like them to make it so that we can become the new leader.

No matter what, I will not kill Paarthunax.

Yeah, when I saw the Blades I was like "Nice, someone who helps me, finally."

But it turns out they're just annoying pricks. I have not, nor will I ever kill Paarthurnax.

Belongs in the spoiler section. But I find it unreasonable to kill someone for a crime that happened hundreds of years ago.

They do have a point that he may one day turn blood thirsty again. But I think until he is actually guilty again there isn't a reason to kill him. Though one could also fight him merely to see who is the stronger Dovah. That is why my main character fought and killed him.

Yeah, when I made it to that point where I had to make the decision I thought it seemed stupid how set they were on Paarthunax needing to die, what he did actually helped them and not hurt them in any way. It seems just because he is a dragon, they think he needs to die.

The blades have fallen hard since the days of oblivion. I get that they have been all but wiped out and that they have been on the run and in hiding but I think after I have proven that I was the dragonborn it wouldn't hurt to ask for a little respect since I put my neck on the line for delphine and esborn on more than one occasion. I hope they rot in skyhaven temple. I'd evict them from it if the game were to let me.

I believe that killing someone simply because they might do something is a slippery slope that will only ever spiral downwards. The Blades actions remind me of one of my favorite quotes.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I normally kill him because I think he is a time bomb. He even says it is an eternal struggle to maintain his peacfulness. He wants to burn Skyrim down, but tells himself he doesn't. He is gonna snap one day, and I stop it from happening. I don't think he would blame me, either. He's a cool dude..... Dragon?

No I'm not going to kill him ,I see no reason to .Paarthunaxx has only helped me ,what he did eons ago doesn't affect my decision .
Now Esbern and Delphine took off on me on the way to Sky Haven Temple and I had to fight that damn blood dragon (which I can never seem to beat) they left me hanging BIG TIME ,I'm not real happy with them so if they don't want to help me ,so be it ,I'll do it with out them.
I did however figure a way around the blood dragon ,RUN AWAY!!

I am glad many of you agree with me. I wish they could make a patch that could let us kill Delphine and Esbern and allow us to become the new leader of the Blades.

Either way when I get that far I'll pickpocket everything they got and hack at them and what not

I despised Delphine from the moment I saw/heard her at Dragonsreach for the first time and have wanted to drive my sword through her neck for a while. She's so arrogant and self righteous, manipulative and useless. Esbern is not much better, he feigns wisdom by repeating ancient history and clings onto his dated notions of the Blades as being a righteous force.
Spoiler
The Blades themselves have become a shell of their former existence and no longer serve part of their purpose fully. Paarthurnax has redeemed himself for his actions by not only assisting the mortals in their initial disposal of Alduin as well as the Dragonborn's quest but by secluding himself from most human interaction and teaching a more peaceful way of the Voice which brings harmony to the world. He was an invaluable ally who provided otherwise unattainable wisdom and fought with me against the World-Eater, contrasted to the Blades' habit of manipulating me into fetching this or doing this and then standing idly by talking tough while I contend with any dragons we faced. The Blades offer a chance to recruit more Blades (Oh yay, more followers to get in my way!) and hunt down dragons, while Paarthurnax helps me meditate on my Thu'um and the Greybeards under his instruction guide me to dragons and word walls to further my knowledge of the Thu'um.

I discovered with sorrow that I could not kill the Blades since they're marked as essential. I settled for soul trapping Malborn and leaving the soul gem on a table at Sky Haven Temple as a constant reminder to Delphine that she does not sass, manipulate or disrespect the Dovahkiin..or look in his general direction.

the blades ask the dragonborn to kill parth... but have they forgotten that he is Dovahkiin? that he share the blood and soul of the dragons and only kill the Dragons that are loyalists to the World-Eater Alduin that have betrayed his father Akatosh? i will not kill one of my own kiin, i will not kill my mentor.. and friend, damn blades i hope that dragons takes them all to whatever place they go when they die, for i don't believe that kind would be welcomed in Sovngaard :swear:

Here's my take on the situation:

1) Esbern and Delphine have good intentions. They want to see justice done. Yet they do not see the whole picture. It was the Gods themselves that aided Paarthurnax and humans. It was also the Gods that aided you, the Dragonborn. I sincerely doubt that Akatosh, Kynareth, Talos, or Stendarr want Paarthurnax dead.

2) The Way of the Voice IS a punishment for Paarthurnax. A dragon is different from a mortal; they were meant to dominate. To go against this... well.... you get the idea.

THANK YOU!!!! :) That is also what I was thinking!! The Nine Divines and the Fallen heroes in the Souvngard afterlife may not think he deserves to die!!!!!!!:)

Kyne is the goddess of Weather, I can imagine Paar being informed that He must teach mankind how to talk like the Dragons :shocking:
My Opinion in every poll has been let him live, because whatever Kyne did seems to have stuck in his mind. He has been following and teaching "The Way of the Voice" for a very long time. He is also in the position where his death may not be permanent, unlike every other Dragon. Alduin would only ressurect him to kill him again and again as punishment prior to Sovengard. After Sovengarde, He would know Dragonrend in its full expression.

I hate Dalphine, never liked her never will. Paarthunax is a cool dragon. I do not want to write spoilers, so this is all I have to say.

If it wasnt for Parthuurnax, Alduin would not of been defeated the first time. I think that makes up for the men hes killed.

however, i did kill Parthuurnax... i regret it, but according to my rp, i needed the help of the Blades to destroy the other Dragons, and I would do anything for that help.
