Just let us remove the compass.

Post » Tue Jul 24, 2012 6:22 pm

Incredibly easy to change, allow us to change the opacity for each section of the HUD, or add a remove compass option.

It would make my gameplay so much nicer, having no HUD means no health/stamina/magicka bars. I'd also like to remove the HUD when talking to people or looking at containers, basically to remove all HUD except the bars.

This has been done to death, but they still haven't given us the option on consoles.

Maybe you could put a piece of paper on the top of your tv in order to block the compass.

It would be nice for taking screenshots that show dialogue. The compass just seems out of the place on pictures.

Hey I just noticed. Maybe I should retake my photos with the compass invisible. Too bad I forgot where I took them.

And back on topic to the original post.... Yeah they should add a option to turn it off its rather ugly when your taking a picture.

The compass is a very narrow strip and easy to edit off - with Irfanview (free open-sourced program). Drag and drop screenshot into icon on desktop - left-click and outline the area you want (all lines draggable)- crop and save - and simply upload as well - I use Photobucket Done in a minute.
Grin, surprised me when I looked in my list and saw what the value was

A lot of quests would have to be rewritten seeing as the compass is now your clue to where the treasure is instead of a good description in your journal. Like in Morrowind.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a command in the console text that allows us to turn off all the HUD display features for taking pics etc?

They could just add an option to remove the quest markers. Honestly, if the compass was like a real life compass, that just pointed north, south, etc, then it could actually compliment the quest directions.

This isn't a problem, I'd look where the quest location is in the map (which has no quest markers) then work out where I have to go.

Did you people not read that I'm on console, "given us the option on consoles". I wouldn't be asking if I was on PC.

Go to>>

Mydocuments> Mygames> Skyrim> SkyrimPrefs

look for this down the list> bShowCompass=1

Change the 1 to 0 and save

That's it.

Apparently they haven't or have and weren't thinking about it, I'm afraid asking for some help on here usually just gets the response "there's a mod for that" or something similar. I'd suggest sending your suggestion to either the company or trying out a few other ways people get rid of the compass on the console.

Ah do you not have a standard configurations file like the PC

Mydocuments> Mygames> Skyrim> SkyrimPrefs

look for this down the list> bShowCompass=1

Change the 1 to 0 and save

Why don't you just crop the picture in paint.net or something...?

They should just have a "Opacity of interface" thing, quite a few games have that.

Though they did quite a good job with the hp and mp bars imo, they only appear when you use them. Leaving your screen quite clean except for the compass :P
