Why are there no toilets in Skyrim?

Post » Thu Jul 26, 2012 12:25 am

Does everyone just run out into the woods and squat?

Irileth: My lord, I have urgent news from Riverwood!
Jarl Balgruuf: Hold that thought! I'll be right back!
Proventus: But my Jarl, there's been a dragon attack!
Jarl Balgruuf: NOT NOW! Hand me some of the castle draqes! I'll be back in about 10 minutes.
Dragonborn:...............

This topic has been beaten so much it should start pressing charges.
As for where NPCs "go"... what do you think those buckets and baskets are for?

Its the buckets; look in the various jails around. You can see the devs even had a little fun with this... I've noticed one toilet has a potion of true shot next to it; they often have reading material as well.

this same discussion was brought up when we played Oblivion and how no one's house had a bathroom.

They did it with Fallout so we know they're not morally opposed to toilets

Well hears something to ponder Riften has sewers so that must mean it also has or at some point had sewage. To have sewage you need toilets or a least holes in the ground that connect to the sewer system. Has anyone seen these mythical toilets or any other evidence of plumbing in Riften I know I havent.

errrr Bedpans anyone? or in Skyrims case buckets. Take bedpan/bucket dump in drain ditch which goes to sewers. Or in some places/times a room with a "toliet seat" with a whole that then went down the side of the building to a drain ditch or cespool or a pipe that did the same thing. Anyone say ewwwwww????

In an effort to get back into the good graces of Skyrim’s citizens, the College of Winterhold announced a beautification program. All aspiring mages are required to complete at least one semester successfully using the illusion and/or alteration school of magic to render the remnants of these basic bodily functions, more “aesthetically” pleasing.

That’s why those buckets are empty, or at least appear to be.
