Olympics 2012

Post » Thu Jul 26, 2012 2:34 pm

Well, although the opening ceremony is yet to come, the Olympics kicked off with women's soccer today. Anybody else catch the matches?

The start for Team USA against France wasn't promising, but the way they finished the game was commanding. All hail Wambach and her indomitable head! :P

Brazil dominated in their match, but I was more impressed by Cameroon. Their dignity and perserverance in the face of such a lopsided match-up was inspiring. Such class.

I didn't see much of the Japan - Canada match besides the first two goals, but Japan looked to be in fine form.

Huge SNAFU apparently, when they displayed the South Korean flags at the stadium when it was North Korea playing. I bet somebody is pretty red in the face over that one.

All things point to an interesting Olympics so far. Can't wait for the men's soccer tomorrow, even if the US not qualifying is a bit of an embarrassment. I always root for Brazil anyway, heh. :P

The only thing I care about in the summer olympics is the high jump and a few other track and field events (residual curse of watching Suzuka)

Only thing in the winter olympics I care about is Curling (just because it's so funky)

I always watch US Women's soccer, exciting as hell. The rest of the Olympics? Won't watch a single bit.

Never found the Summer Olympics interested.

I watch the Winter Olympics for snowboarding, that's pretty much it.

If only the Summer Olympics had Wakeboarding.

We've got gold. This squad is ridiculously good. Too bad we don't have Krieger though.

I've only ever been into watching the track events as well, although I followed Phelps' quest for those 8 gold medals last time around.

I'm really curious to see if Usain Bolt will set another record in the 100 or the 200. I think Jamaica will set another record in the 4x1, and will probably win gold in the 100 and 200.

Also planning to see David Rudisha set a new world record in the 800.

Meh, to me it's yet another event where Belgium makes cramped and awkward efforts to raise a feeling of national pride and then proceeds to make a complete fool of itself.
