I've completed the dark assassin's storyline and i cant get blood on the ice to start but i really want Hjerim since it is the best house.

has this bug been patched yet because i cant seem to start blood on the ice

You need to enter and exit Windhelm 4 times for Blood to start is what I've read from the Prima guide.

It's buggy as hell, too. Some people are just *not* able to start that quest.

I've never, ever, ever, been able to get that quest to work correctly.

The quest worked perfectly the first and only time I did that quest.

I did, but it took some figuring out. I've avoided starting it ever since. Especially problematic is the fact that I had to have the key to Hjerm to do it, and I didn't want it because I didn't want a house in Windhelm period. That city's about as friendly as a mausoleum. Finally I just pickpocketed it.

you need to exit Windhelm and re enter it probably around 4 times then you have to side with either the Stormcloaks or the Imperials but to get the house faster then side with the Stormcloaks because you won't get the house until after you completed the civil war questline for the imperials

Nope.I got Hjerim and helped Empire.
But this happend after the last update.Before 1.6 Hjerim was unavailable for me.

i bought the house BEFORE i did that quest. try becoming Thane and purchasing it
