Make bleach thicker?

Post » Sun Jul 29, 2012 3:48 pm

Hey folks,

I'm trying to bleach some jeans for an 80's party tonight. Liquid bleach isn't really doing much, so I want to try a paste. We have sodium chloride, corn starch, etc. I've seen a few methods on line, but I don't have much time to experiment. Any thoughts as to how to make Clorox thicker?

Thanks,
Rumbly

You could try mixing it with napalm.

Unhelpfully,

I have a good exhaust fan.

Didn't have time to run out for the bleach pen, that surely would have worked.

Ended up mixing in baking powder. Problem was that the bleach wouldsoak out and leave the powder on top. Will see what happens with this wash.

Toilet bowl cleaner might work?

Also thinking of puttin glemon juice on the parts taht I have covered.

Yes, I do have a will :P

Is that the cyanide mixture?

Anyways, the baking soda + bleach soak, plus some lemon juice and toothbrush just before the rinse worked. Some good stripes to go with the cut-off KISS shirt and studded collar.

Thanks guys!

N-no. Cyanide is found in bacteria and fungi and other things. You don't get carbon atoms from mixing ammonium and chlorine, so there's no real way I can see cyanide forming.

What you do get is chlorine gas and the potential for the formation of hydrazine, which is similar to hydrogen cyanide and sarin gas as far as health goes. All this among about 10 other chemicals and vapors which are likewise health hazards.
